good areas of Gainsville

Hello,

I am looking to relocate to Gainesville or surrounding area. I am just wondering are there any particular areas to avoid? Where can you get the most bang for your buck as far as real estate. Any opinions are appreciated.

Any where Northwest area and West out by the mall. I stay in the NE part in a middle class neighborhood pretty quite no crime at all.
