Hi, Ive applied and had a one one interview and I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight on the department. How soon does one get a take home car? What are the expectations for university police? I'm going to schedule a ride along with day and night shift to see the difference but was hoping for a heads up or advice on the process from here on out. Thanks. Stay safe.

Whoa, homie! Slow down. You should be worried about having an oral board, not a take home car. This is not the place for recruitment information. Contact the person that your first interview was with.

You get the take home after you complete your 1 year probation.

Upon completing the FTO Program new officers are issued a take home vehicle

Giddy up, I want to be a Detective someday. How can I scam my way to this prestigious designation.

Ask your Lieutenant to be the best man at your wedding and then outfit the Chief’s car with 10 grand worth of lights ?

I seem to remember hearing a story about a DUI the Chief was too afraid to pull over? Glad to see resources going to a good cause.

How soon are you notified after oral board?

Dude, Run!!!

You will not be happy, nobody is. If your new and know about this site you are already off on a bad foot. Go apply elsewhere, this is NOT a LEO position.

Does any one else giggle a bit whenever someone mentions "oral" on here

Don't let the few disgruntled people on this site keep you from applying here. For what you do at USF, the pay, benefits, and retirement are really good. All the overtime you could possibly want. The few that are disgruntled are incapable of getting employment anywhere else, so they stick around here, troll this website, and do nothing but bad mouth the agency. Unfortunately we are stuck with them because no one else will ever hire them. They know this, and it's eating them up inside, so they lash out, here on this site, because it's the only way they can communicate. No one will listen to them otherwise. So sad.

Let's not forget reply # 3 who stated that you get a take home after 1 year.

Even those who have left can't really leave.

Oral

Doesn't it take you guys a year to make it thru the FTO program? :snicker:

What FTO program? You ride with someone who knows nothing for a while. They teach you how to be an embarrassment and do things incorrectly.

It's like that here as on any other police Dept. or business these days, they try to get rid of the older officers, to save money on retirements payed out and health care. The result is people with not much experience, training new people on the job. You can thank Gov. Scott for that. The loss of Veteran officers means, a huge loss on knowledge and information and the way things are done effeciently and how to train new officers.

HA!, Our veteran officers are our laziest! And I'm not talking about the recent ones that have come from the REAL police departments.

If you have been here for 10+ years you are the problem.
