View Full Version : LONG GUNS AND SAFES IN SCHOOLS

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I'm a School Resource Officer at an inner-city high school in Tampa and I'm trying to find out if any agencies in FL issue their SROs/SRDs long-guns and allow them to be kept/gun-safed in their respective schools during the school day.

With the ever-increasing threats we face both on the street and in our schools, it seems like a pretty good idea to not only have a long-gun but for an SRO/SRD, it would be an invaluable tool to engage and stop a threat at range, with accuracy, when that day comes. Particularly so, when considering that the active shooter/murderer is armed with a
long-gun(s) and possibly suited in body armor.

Thanks, God bless, take care of each other and be safe.

Do you have the budget required to initially bring the officers to the desired level of proficiency to significantly minimize the danger of collateral casualties and do you then again have the budget for reoccurring training to maintain that level? It’s going to require a good chunk of change.
Or; do you just want to carry cool guns and look impressive to the kiddies and the MILFs?

Our department has it's own initial fairly intensive qualification course for those with rifles. Our initial qualification and annual re-qualification course mandates 100% hit rate or you fail...pull one round and you repeat...fail twice..come back next year and keep your rifle at home until you do.

We have recurring active shooter training...all of which is unearned info given your ridiculous comments.

Hope you feel better tomorrow.
