NORTH PORT - The City of North Port has settled a false arrest lawsuit with a man police charged with drunk driving in 2008 — even though he had no alcohol or drugs in his system.

Bryan Anderson, then 18, was driving home around midnight on Oct. 4, 2008, in a white convertible with the top down.

"That's probably why they stopped me," he recalled Friday. "They said a wheel crossed the double-yellow line."

North Port Police Chief Kevin Vespia, who was appointed in 2010, was not familiar with the case, but expects to be briefed soon by the city's risk managers.

"If there are training issues brought up, we'll address them," Vespia said.

This is only 1 of many lawsuits coming up. Let us not forget the man that got arrested for recording on a public street. Oh wait if you arrest someone for doing that you get promoted to admin! So an answer for you One Down would be that the person in charge rewards you with promotions to his staff.

The best part of the upcoming lawsuit for the unlawful arrest for the video taping of the traffic stop is the fact that BOTH of the Officers that made the arrest were promoted to Captains ........ One of them couldnt even make Lieutenant, but that proves that if you are a YES MAN, you can skip ranks and go to the top even though you are one unstable individual....

Not only that, but it happened on KV's watch as chief.
So that puts his last exuces of, " I was not chief then" out the window.

Just to keep people up to date, he you go.

So now that the SAO office has dropped the charges, what is KV going to do?

The last thing from KV was that there was no comment until the SAO made a decision.

It has been several months since then, and KV has not made public statement "1" since then.

We carry insurance to cover mistakes like this dork.

Yes we do!!!!
However, there is a big differnce between a mistake, and an out right violation of U.S. law.
THERE WAS NO F(CKING MiSTAKE IN THIS CASE.

Our department was notified back in "2009" that the public can make such a recording.

Now with such knowledge, officers in our department still took action counter to U.S. law.

ONCE AGAIN, THERE WAS NO F(CKING MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree, there were a few mistakes. #1. Putting K.V. in as a Chief. #2. Putting A.S. in as a Captain. #3. Putting T.S. in as a Captain. Enough said !!!!!
