View Full Version : Sequester and Bargaining

A very important point of discussion is the impact of the sequester on our bargaining. A big picture approach to collective bargaining in the past always seemed fruitful. Even considering the financial times which were present prior to this self -inflicted dilemma we find our bargaining unit in (poor representation), we had citizen support, political influence, and a 900 lbs Gorilla backing us up; the sequester cuts will not take that into consideration. Cuts to federal funds given to states which have trickle down to cities like ours will be reduced. New health care laws may effect us further as rising premiums, deductibles and other out of pocket expense are concerned. To study the extremely poor management of our city over the years is a lesson in history, which should have been used to teach not to repeat mistakes of the past; one would think members would think things through prior to making BIG decisions. Apparently, the reading of news papers, studying of economic trends, and nationwide trends in collective bargaining were not considered in the current demands (i.e. making Detective a permanent position, and other self-serving and malicious ideas). Should we get screwed in bargaining worse than we have already then; without question we can only blame ourselves for following the loud mouth, lying, and self serving few who led the REFORM!

Now to address the greatest chief we ever had:

As an outsider, brought in to get the cops out of politics, he has done nothing, but bring more division, ill feelings, resentment, etc... to an agency that was once the envy of the 7 island community. He's a walking line of political rhetoric who answers all questions as if he were in an assessment center. He is responsible for a huge disconnect from the community and has single handedly caused more financial waste in a short time than prior politicians probably stole from city coffers.

Here is the tickle; everybody dislikes, hates, (or whatever word you use) this super chief, but the big mouths of our current leadership have done NOTHING to deal with him. The reason for this is plain and simple, cowardice.

Things change, people come and go, and the world keeps spinning, but Bob Daniels will live forever!

P. S.

Boca Bob has been dropping applications everywhere and no agency is interested. What does that say about the sad state of affairs we are currently saddled with? Don't know about you guys, but I'm going to to da Red Losta and get some scrimps. Peace!

It is a fact that your chief is trying to bail. He is not favored by anyone in the business, nor is he respected by most chiefs in our county. He had issues every where he has been, and can't make any short lists anywhere. Looks like you guys are stuck with him, and a bad union. Good luck guys.... you'll need it.

OK, so now would be perfect timing for him to leave sunny Fla again. He has come in and caused problems... he hired his wife on the down low for goodness sake. Commission, Kelly... do your jobs and FIRE him. His contract is utterly worthless as it is in direct conflict with the charter. Remember, the manager has not done a thing to fix problems and there is an election cycle just around the corner.

Can you name the agencies?
