Another Unjustified Termination!

Wow, just when I thought I had seen and heard it all for officers being fired from this place today is the icing on the cake. An officer was fired because she married a fellow officer and allegedly didn't tell the tribe. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! :lol: The tribe has finally sunk to an all new low. To the handful of officers left out there, leave now it's only a matter of time and they'll have your number. You all need to get together go one by one into the chairmans office and quit! Then and only then will they be forced to contact the BIA to step in and handle the law enforcement for the tribe. To the tribal members wake up you are slowly eliminating the entire police force and you will have no one to protect you! To the Chairman and Law Maker you two need to grow a pair T.W. is a nobody if you honestly believe she could have your jobs that easily then you both should resign now. If I remember correctly the general counsel needs to vote as a majority for that to happen and sorry can't see that happening. GOOD LUCK and GOD SPEED! :cop: :evil:

These people don't care all that the ofcs give so much for these ******* crap eaters. There is not one single Ofc that gives a damn about these people. If you enjoy being a cop get out now before they screw you too. Look at any police application, they all ask if you have received any discipline or been terminated from a law enforcement agency. There are so many departemnts out there that won't give you the time of day if you answer yes. They don't care how rediculous the circumstances, most don't want to hear it or won't give you an opportunity to explain, they just send you a notice advising you are no longer in the process. There is such an abundance of applicants out there, they don't bother to take the time and look at what milk and cookies does to officers. The reality is it's easier for them to process candidates without baggage. I know most of you are thinking, "every department knows about miccosukee", they do, but it doesn't mean they will give you the time of day. Trust me, no matter how stupid the circumstances were, you will carry the baggage miccosukee gives to you. They have fired a lot of great cops over the years for nothing, how many are still out of law enforcement. It ought to tell you something. Get the hell out before these morons destroy your career and everything you have worked so hard to achieve.

It just troubles me that you want to spout off that we don't pay out bills. Maybe you should step back and see the truth. The truth is this person was over charging tribe. They were also giving shoddy workmanship to the tribe and trying to charge double and tripple. Maybe you guys have money to burn, but we don't. I understand one being a SGT. however the other to my understanding was a DET. which means there are limited interactions, So come on the penalty doesn't fit the crime. I also understand that some small agencies frown upon this but i doubt seriously they would fire one or the other.

Maybe you should leave south florida and see how other agencies work. Then you will understand how strict law enforcement is in there SOP's about marriage between supervisors an subordinates. She was a Detective assigned to the General Investigations Unit under the supervision of another "senior" Detective and the Chief of Police is the supervisor of that unit. Her husband is a Sgt on the road... Therefore he does not supervise her!

She did a lot for the department and always helped anyone who asked for help. Unfortunate when you work in a department full of envious people and you do good, people want to knock you down. This Detective recieved Officer of the month awards serveral times as well as Officer of the year! You all can try to spread rumors as much as you like about her, but if you knew her you would know the rumors are not true and that she gave that department more than what they deserved.

Justanofc, my brother you hit the nail right on the head, I am a former mic pd ofc and know both the Sgt and the Det both are great officers. Hey, Guest first off I know first hand how stuff works out there, and at no time has a road SGT been over a Det in GIU, so nice try also there is nothing in the SOP's that state such unless they have changed since I worked out there which I highly doubt. If I recall the SOP basically states that one cannot supervise the other directly, which a road SGT would not over see a Det in GIU. Several years back there was a similar situation and neither one got terminated. Also I work for a much larger agency today, and even our SOP's state that when it comes to nepotism one cannot supervise the other or can they work in the same shift in the same unit, and that is how most agencies are today. To the men and women still out there working, keep out of trouble and apply out to other agencies and leave, as you will never be able to retire form there.

Stop and think the department opened in 1976 and not one Officer or staff member has ever retired from there? Everyone that has ever worked there is screwed up and it must be them. I still remember the time I responded to a call of a 12 year old tribal member drinking. This one had a bottle of Alize and had drank half the bottle. I confronted him and the parents and guess what...........I was told to F..k off and I would lose my job if I arrested the child or the parents. Guess who showed up 5 minutes later? The Chairman at the time Billy Cypress and I was told that this was an internal matter that they would handle.

What did the kid do right in front of me? He drank almost the rest of the bottle and told me to f..k off. Now, if anyone has drank the ornage colored Alize drink you know thats some potent stuff. I can only drink a little bit of that an I'm gone.

It was at that time plus other incidents that made me realize that it was time to move on. In the agency that I work for, we have problems, but nothing like what you go through at Micco, and to top that off 5 years at the tribe equals to almost 2 months of real police expierence on another agency. You practically an FTO rookie cause you don't do or can't do crap. Ohh and those that say, well I have a degree and have taken numerous law enforcement exclusive training classes, still does not qualify for the real expierence.

How can they really trust its officers if this is how they speak of them? How do you expect them to even provide raises or better equipment( radios that work anywhere) and benefits if officers don't really care about them. Like any small department, especially when the community pays a large amount taxes for the police the community members call the shots. It is true that the department and the council terminate its officers unfairly but reality is that they pay for their officers. and the purpose of the officers are to protect them. yes I have heard stories and what they do to their officers is very wrong but they where the first to give me chance in the field. they provide us with really good equipment and training that might not be available in other departments. the miccosukee tribe employs hundreds of people especially in the casino. i am greatful for the job because it provides for my family. this is a place to vent true, we are professionals. role models for the communitywe should express our thoughts in that manner. there are proper ways to disagree. many departments are political and corrupted as well. many different cultures excessively drink and do drugs. and not all the tribal members are the same. truth is money is made easy. things arent going to change and coming in everyone knows how it is so why complain. some of the tribal members are really nice people. we shouldnt sterotype... we do why because they have money? well they do alot of charity too fairs and festivals for kids. no job is perfect and no matter the department there will always be issues. do what are expected to do easy as that and you will last as long as 5 years as the current ones, or 12 and 15 as previous. jenny was a good officer and person and i had the pleasure of meeting her. she will do just fine in any other department because she is ambitious smart and outgoing. good luck jenny
