There comes a time in your career when you realize you can't make up your own rules. There comes time in your career when you realize you're not gonna win every case. There comes a time in your career when you realize our system of justice is such that we would rather see guilty people go free that to imprison the innocent.

There comes a time in your career when you realize your family and health is much more important. There comes a time in your career when you realize Patrol isn't a bad place to be. There comes a time in your career when you like the fact your phone hasn't rung all day, you're caught up on reports, and you'll be home in time to watch Wheel of Fortune.

There comes a time in your career when you start to think like a defense attorney. You slow down, make sure the case is strong before you even turn on the lights, or ask if the pants the guys is wearing are his and if anyone else has had them on today."

There comes a time in your career when you can imagine the questions asked in the invest or the depo and you haven't even arrived on scene yet.

There comes a time in your career when you realize it's no one's fault, not even the boss. It's a mindset, a culture, "we've always done it that way".

And finally, there comes a time in your career when you stand up for what's right, proper and just, which isn't always the way we've done it. You understand where you can get creative and where you can't and you follow your own moral compass.

There comes a time in your career when you realize election years are always gonna be different, messy and stressful. You find a way to keep your head down.

There comes a time in your career when you realize you're gonna get screwed. It wasn't your fault, everyone was doing the same thing, you didn't deserve the reprimand, time off etc. You're also gonna deserve the reprimand on occasion, or the days off. But you're also gonna get screwed, it's just a matter of time.

The only control you have over it is how you react. Will you take in stride, continue to do the job professionally, or will you become a bitter, burned out, pissed off employee?

There comes a time in your career when you realize your reputation for hard work and honesty will overcome the speed bumps. This too shall pass.

So? What will you do? How will you react?

There comes a time where you need to shut the **** up!

Who the hell do you think you are, J. Edgar Hoover? These aren't Junior G-men, they're Sweetwater Cops and definetly not the "better ones" from the litter of departments in this County.

Whatever it shouldnt be hard for one person to be a better Cop here since this SO-Called Department is full of piece of shit cops and wannabes.
