You must have at least two years on the job. We have four K-9's and the senior K-9 Officer has been in the unit for 14 years. You must wait until an opening in that unit comes, then try out, competing against several other Officers. The Officers are not rotated out, they stay there until they request to come out or get booted. The dogs that we use are Malinois and German Shepards. Hope this helps.
