CERRITOS, Calif.—An off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has shot and wounded two burglary suspects at his Cerritos home.
A Sheriff's Department statement says that shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, the deputy heard voices and noises coming from his home, which was covered with a tent for fumigation.
The deputy walked into his backyard and was confronted by three men leaving the house. Authorities say the deputy ordered the men to raise their hands but a struggle ensued during which he shot two of the men.
They were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
The third man fled.
The deputy received minor injuries.
