I was notified today by Dir. Hope Janke at DOJ that Chris' death has officially been adjudicated as LINE OF DUTY. The claims process has been ongoing for 5.5 years with FLEOA handling the appeal. A thousand pounds has been lifted off my chest, for now my spouse's service and sacrifice has been acknowledged and duly honored by this nation. I hope my fight has paved the way and will make it somewhat easier for the next claimant. I lost the most wonderful husband in the world.

Congratulations on a long overdue victory. As you indicate, it is more than simply a victory for you; it should make it easier for others to obtain similar rulings in similar circumstances in the future.

Of course nothing can compensate you and Caitlin for your loss, but it is comforting to have Chris' service to his country properly acknowledged.
