View Full Version : I am just an everyday citizen

I am in awe and have complete respect for the dangerous difficult job you guys do. I thank you for it.

But what is happening?

I have seen reports in the news lately that have almost made me scared of the police. I am a law abiding citizen, always have been. So never before have I looked at law enforcement as anything but Protectors, and Guardians. Even though I am still a law abiding citizen, and I have not changed, it appears as if Law enforcement has, and this change has me questioning my safety if ever I am in contact with you guys in an emergency situation.

I am going to post some examples of what I speak. Then could you guys, someone, please tell me something to make me feel better about this?

OK, IM CONFUSED AS TO WHY YOU ARE POSTING THIS? WE DON'T KNOW ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON EACH OF THESE CASES TO MAKE ANY TYPE OF JUDGEMENT. yOU DON'T KNOW WHAT LEAD UP TO THE INCIDENT NOT EVEN MOST OF THE DURING OF THESE INCIDENTS. DIFFERENT STATES AND AGENCIES HAVE DIFFERENT POLICIES FOR HANDLING CERTAIN INCIDENTS , I.E., TASERS, USE OF FORCE, THAT MAYBE NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO. IF THESE OFFICERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY MADE SOME MISTAKES BASED UPON THEIR TRAINING OR LACK OF TRAINING OR WHATEVER, THEN THEY WILL BE IM SURE PROPERLY PUNISHED OR RE TRAINED OR FIRED.

I DON'T SAY THAT THESE INCIDENTS WERE HANDLED CORRECTLY OR NOT CORRECTLY, BUT, YOU HAVE ONLY NAMED A FEW. THERE ARE LITERALLY 1000'S OF INCIDENTS EVERYDAY WHERE OFFICERS AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE SAVING LIVES. SO IM SURE THAT YOU CAN STILL BE A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN AND STILL SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT.

I posted this honestly for some reassurance. I was hoping someone in law enforcement could say something, anything, to alleviate the anxiety I have.

I support Law enforcement a 100 percent. But, that does not alleviate the fact that currently, with the reports that seem to be showing up everywhere, I am leery, and do not know if I TRUST law enforcement anymore.

It appears to me that the incidences of overkill have become part of the norm.

'IF THESE OFFICERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY MADE SOME MISTAKES BASED UPON THEIR TRAINING OR LACK OF TRAINING OR WHATEVER, THEN THEY WILL BE IM SURE PROPERLY PUNISHED OR RE TRAINED OR FIRED.'

Well first there will be a THOROUGH INVESTIGATION of the entire incident, and it will always be found to be JUSTIFIED USE OF OUTLANDISH FORCE by all city, county, state agencies and courts to avoid any financial responsibility by the government.

Then it will be a reprimand to the officer for not USING AN OUNCE OF COMMON SENSE, and all kinds of threats about the next time (and the next time, and the next time...).

Then it will be BUSINESS AS USUAL where the cops are pumped on adreneline and afraid of their own shadows ready to attack ANYONE and ANYTHING that gives them a moment of resistance when ther are PERFORMING THEIR 'LAWFUL' DUTY, no matter how CONFUSED they are about what THEIR 'LAWFUL' DUTY is.

Dear ScaredAndNotWantingToBe it is way past time to simply be scared. You can't trust the criminals, and you need to avoid 'OUR TEAM' lest you be immediately branded one of them bad guys by the 'TEAM' you and I pay to PROTECT US.

In my experiences around the country, 'OUR POLICE TEAM' is systematically defended against any criticism of their often INSANE actions in an effort to save money by the state. So what do you want? 'Cheap law enforcement' or 'Safe law enforcement'?

The American way is to provide cheap liquor to the these cops so they can forget what they have done, and then go do it again. Day after scary day. There is no way to clean up the mess in this country until you clean up the COURTS and hold the LEGAL PROFESSION responsible for honesty in their criminal and civil defense presentations; not the highest priced chicanery defense that perpetuate the lies of 'their ALTERNATE truths'.
