CRYSTAL RIVER -- A deputy and the driver of another car were airlifted to a hospital after a head-on collision Friday night in Citrus County. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said they were called out to W Gulf to Lake Hwy. and Curlew Pl. in Crystal River just before 7 p.m. near a Regions Bank. According to investigators, Citrus County Deputy Todd Cridland was driving east on W Gulf to Lake Hwy. when an elderly man driving a pick-up truck tried to make a left turn and pulled out in front of Cridland. Right now we are investigating what happened,” said Florida Highway Patrol official William Courtney. “At this point we know that the pickup truck came out of Regions Bank parking lot and pulled in front of the Cridland’s car. We are not sure of the speed, we are investigating it.” Cridland and the driver of the other car were airlifted as precautionary measures to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville

The deputy has been released from the hospital. I'm sure he's pretty banged up, but at least he is home.
