?5. Richard Perez

Either Hispanic Wilton Manors, Florida Police Chief Richard Perez suffers from a shocking lack of self-awareness or he's been deprived of a mirror for far too long. (Maybe both.) Reminiscent of Dave Chappelle's blind racist black man character, 58-year old is oblivious to the fact that his heritage is eyed as warily by fellow right-wing racists as he does blacks, Arabs and Muslims.

Perez circulated a series of emails critical of President Obama, including ones that had his mother suggesting he should be thankful he doesn't bark, and another which complained that at a marine funeral attended by the president the 21-gun salute all "missed the *******." Other emails refer to Arabs as "camel-shaggers" and "rag-heads" suggesting they be connected to the leads from a car battery. (You first.)

Is he unaware of the jokes about the size, intelligence, laziness, diet, cleanliness and number of children that circulate about Mexicans, or does he simply prefer his ass-hat to a sombrero? His behavoir's particularly ironic given that three years ago he circulated an e-mail to his staff expressing that messages with insulting or abusive language toward members of his department were unacceptable and wouldn't be tolerated.

The former 24-year vet of the Fort Lauderdale police force doesn't deserve a 30-day unpaid suspention (his punishment); he needs a ticket to the next KKK pancake social so he can appreciate the looks on their faces when he pulls off his hood to eat.

WILTON MANORS POLICE CHIEF SUSPENDED
OVER RACIAL EMAILS
Wilton Manors Police Chief Rick Perez has been suspended and removed from office
by Governor Crist after it was revealed that offensive and racist emails were forwarded
from his department computer. Wilton Manors City Manager Joseph Gallegos announced
that Perez will serve a 30 day suspension without pay starting Monday, September
20th.
During his suspension, Chief Perez will be required to undergo racial and cultural sensitivity training and
complete an effective management course. He has also been placed on leave from his teaching job at Broward
College’s Institute of Public Safety Police Academy.
A review of 16 weeks of departmental emails was conducted after it was revealed that offensive emails
were being distributed from and around the city’s police department.
Chief Perez has apologized for his conduct and added he had “no excuses” for his actions.
In this time of instant communications over the internet, officers are finding themselves in trouble more
frequently for improper use of the department computer, social networking site posts and texting.
Consider a recent case in the state of Texas. An FOP member received an email forwarded to him from
someone he knew on his personal computer. He decided to share it with his friends without any thought. Just
a simple email, right! Many have chuckled at a cartoon or joke sent in an email and forwarded on to everyone
on their contact list. Except this email contained a warning not to do business with a particular police supply
company without first checking on the business. Not a big deal thought the member. He didn’t write it and
thought he should share the warning with his friends.
Months later the member was sued for sending the email which the named company claimed was slanderous
and caused them harm in lost business. The Texas State FOP Lodge was also named, since this member
worked for the FOP.
After a long and difficult court trial, the Texas State FOP was deemed not accountable and released from
the suit. The member however was not so fortunate. A judgment was held against him and the company was
awarded $750,000 in damages that the member must now pay them for simply forwarding an email that he did
not even write.
Officers have been terminated for posting remarks or photos on Face Book. Some have lost their jobs for
misusing the MDT’s in their cars. Emails do not disappear into cyberspace. They are stored and recoverable.
Think before posting or hitting the send button. ?

Isn't it ironic that Perez used to rule our FOP Lodge with a iron fist with Phil Cameron. And now the State of Florida Fraternal Order of Police causes him total embarrassment by sending out this story with his picture to the 16,000 FOP members around the state in the October newsletter. And it will probably be picked up by the NATIONAL FOP MAGAZINE since stories like this are hard to find. Boy you people at the City of Wilton Manors must be really proud of him and the total humiliation he and his merry crew have brought to your police department and city.

Hey where were all of Rick's old FLPD buddies defending him in the press and at the city commission meetings. Oh that's right. He and Seibert were sending them the Racist E Mails in their little chain. Guess I would keep silent to.

10-06-2010, 04:24 PM
OMG!!!! Go on to GOOGLE and type in "CHIEF RICHARD PEREZ" and see for yourself all the articles around the globe that have picked up the story and reported it in their area. It seems like the list goes on FOREVER!!!!

Don't listen to them, Rick. Hold your head high as you go to that unemployment office. They will probably recognize you from the many live newscasts and also the newspapers with your photo along with your do boys, Seibert and Bigelsen.

Try to think of the positives....YOU ARE A CELEBRITY!!!
