Recently a full fledge campaign was carried on announcing the arrival of a “New Era”. Many of us observed the posters and banners erected displaying smiling faces, adorning the sidewalks and sites with positive messages.

Expectations were high! It almost gave the impression like if the arrival of the “New Era” was synonymous of the arrival of a new messianic kingdom! A leader type figure that will redeem us and establish a new order.

With time, some grew discourage and disappointed with the “New Era” and rather called it a “New Age” movement instead.

Here are some key distinctions between the two.

1-) A New Era brings a complete change of the System.

2-) A New Era does have Substance.

3-) A New Era tries to succeed in the areas where the Old Era failed.

But in reality what all what we have is a “New Age” sort of Dispensation.

1-) The System still operating under the same old priorities, principles and suffering from the propensities.

2-) There is too much Form (appearances) but nothing of Substance.

3-) The intention to keep the status quo for the remaining years is obvious.

The New Age movement is everything and nothing at the same time. There is no system of belief and no recognized leaders. The movement is no even recognized as an institution of any sort, neither an organization of some kind.

It borrows from all kind of religions, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, Astrology, Mysticism etc… it also borrows from all kind of philosophies, western and eastern at the same time. New Age draws also from science, mathematics, astronomy, psychiatry, psychology, sociology, anthropology, biology, physics and chemistry and the arts of course…etc…

As result the New Age movement is impossible to define. it appeals to the emotions and very little to the reason. Making sense has never being the Goal of The New Age movement.
What we have is very similar. A lots of rhetoric, blah, blah, blah, blah…I gives the impression that we are in a room, decorated with candles, listening to a relaxing music on the background , surrounded with icons of Christ, Mohamed, Moses and Buddha. Sited in a circle shape pattern, looking how a incense stick slowly burns out and vanishes from our sight while we try to figure out ourselves: “Whether Existence Exist?”…. In a word, we are moving deeper and deeper into a New Age sort of thing.

Or maybe I am wrong, maybe the New Era has arrived indeed, but not for our department. Probably is simply not meant to….lol

Here you have…. A Truly New Era ….or…. an Unintelligible New Age?....you make the call.
Farewell ; Thomas.
