View Full Version : Shifts

Wanted to see what everyone thought about changing the 12 hour shift 12's s**k. Period. If you fought for twelves, you did not follow your thoughts through to conclusion.

PROS- 14 day work month? Every other weekend off. Less travel (to work) time.

CONS- No time for personal life (which means less time to un-wind). Most of your off days are spent recovering from the long shift. If you have a late call, you may have to work a 15 hour day. Overtime is reduced for the individual (drastically). Court time is (most likely) on your own time. Lower morale, more sick time usage. Fatigue sets in faster, which makes a less efficient worker (which is a proven scientific fact). ETC. ETC. ETC!

The human body needs time to rejuvenate. We are in an occupation which causes mental fatigue; which is far greater than physical fatigue. Even though we work 14 days a month, each day becomes increased in the average work load by 50% against an eight hour day. Each hour you work past the eight hour mark increases fatigue exponentially. Unless you are superhuman, you can't overcome the fact: YOU ARE LESS EFFICIENT!

REST AND MENTAL UNWINDING MAKES YOU STRONGER! AN EIGHT TO TEN HOUR DAY SHOULD BE THE RULE.

What do you think?

Are you Hyundai Ryder on the Pasco County Sheriff's board? This is the exact post that was posted on that board under the title Shifts, 12, 10 and 8 on 9/22.

Could you not think of your own words to use?

This post has been on other sites, it is just someone trying to stir up crap. Don't worry about it we can trust our administration to keep their word on the shifts. I think they really don't care what shifts we decide on as a group.
