Beginning Monday, October 5th, you guys at DEP will have the misfortune of having in your agency one nasty dude. His name is Cave and he had to leave ABT or get escorted out on a rail. Sorry for you guys, but oh so happy here at ABT. Just watch him, he'll know everything there is to know about DEP by about 3:30 pm on Monday. Good Luck!!

The "losers" over here are certainly happy this guy is with DEP now. They couldn't even get enough folks to take him to luc his last day..everyone wanted to wait and have the party after he was gone. Perhaps Cave just wasn't meant to be at ABT. He made many, many enemies, he did mean things to people and when enforcement found out he was leaving, there was a party all up and down the great state of Florida. The only thing ABT lost was a hated Captain. Hopefully, he learned from his demise and will be the best thing that's ever happened to DEP. He is still under investigation with ABT (pull up ATMS and you will see). He hauled ass because he saw the writing on the wall. He comes mainly from a corrections background and knows nothing about training (example; Madison stopped using him to train at their academy) which pissed him off, so now, he gives all trainers that work for him a hard time. He has terrible little-big-man syndrome!

Just happened to be crusing through here. ATMS is the data base kept by FDLE (whom we affectionately refer to as the Alphabet Police). You have to have their clearance to access it (usually you have to be a certified trainer with your agency and have something to do with your agency's regular training and certification process). It contains information on ALL certified, de-certified, and pending LEOs, corrections officers, etc., certified in this state and all of the training and certifications they have received (RADAR, LASER, ITW, stuff like that), when they received the training, and when it expires. It is usually the data base your agency and mine goes to when they want to see when your certifications are due to expire so they can set us up for refresher classes. It can even tell you if an officer retired or was forced to leave and under what circumstances. Just passing through....

Look, don't lump us all together because of the idiot with our agency you encountered. Come to some other parts of the state and find out what we do, you may be surprised. It always amazes me how unhappy you ABT guys seem to be. Chief Cave and LT Tolbert haven't been a part of your agency for most of the year and you are still obsessed with them. Get over it and move on. While you are doing this, you might want to change your sour mood and reassess what your idea of a good job is. Based on recommendations from the trasition team, ABT, DEP, and FDLE agents would be merged. The transition team's document talks about repurposing and reallocating assets. What this means for you, is your new supervisor doesn't like your attitude and repurposes to FHP as their newest trooper. Since they have enough troopers in your area, you and your position is reallocated to the Miami office. Remember to brush up on how to write a S4.

Don't work for ABT anymore, but their hate for RC and CT is justified. But, you are right is is time to move on . And if the merger does take place, I'm sure there will be just a many DEP guys looking to become troopers as ABT guys, both agencies have some dead weight.

I will agree that in every agency, there is some dead weight. The issue our agency has regarding personnel is that we are significantly understrength. In the event of a merger, it would seem we may end up with someone else's dead weight.

Sorry, you don't know what you are talking about. The individuals referred to have no authority over any personnel other than training. Additionally, there have been no indications of incompetence. If you have any knowledge of our agency, then you would be aware it was accredited last year and has passed inspections this year. How is your accreditation process going?

Please read the proposed plan. It did not "merge" us with another agency, it simply aligned us under one administration. I didn't see any elimination of the patrol or training positions.
