Why are officers still being told not to bring up the retirement? Last year, the reason was "we have a new chief, wait till next year." Now everyone is scared to talk about it. We have officers that were promised a retirement back in 2003. The chief at that time told officers that we had money set aside in an account. I think the employees of our police department deserve a direct answer regarding the retirement issue. We are seeing more new officers hired that have retired from other departments (in their 50's and 60's). Are 401K is not a retirement plan. And please don't throw numbers out of how many officers are contributing into their 401K (there are many reasons officers are electing not to contribute: they don't wont to risk losing their money in the stock market, they are happy making more interest into their savings account, or they are still pissed they don't have the retirement they were promised)
