Well he has been interviewing the candidates, so I guess the city manager thinks he has was it takes.
The city manager should gage it on the last case he worked!

RS does not represent the men and women of Coconut Creek, our reps do!!!!! Our reps need to interview the Chief Candidates.

07-14-2009, 11:57 AM
How do we vote RS out?

Obviously we can't he has been appointed by god so he says!

07-15-2009, 12:02 AM
The only way out might be the FOP. R.S. has let the power consume him. I am afraid he has lost his way, too bad.

07-15-2009, 12:05 AM
The meeting last night was a joke. Who does RS represent. Our reps could not even calm him down.

07-15-2009, 12:07 AM
What this I hear RS and AA are screeening the future chief. The City Manager ordered them.

07-17-2009, 04:02 AM
Hopefully there are more than a handfull of people typing these concerns. If more of the membership showed up at these meetings, we might have more influence. Its unfortunate, but if WE can't even get together for a meeting, then RS will have the only voice. The only PERMANENT voice as HE CAN'T BE VOTED OUT, due to his new "Executive Board Memeber" Status. Reach out to the members and get them active in these meetings. The meetings are too far and few between to begin with, which I hope isn't a tactic by our reps to keep us in the dark; but we are keeping ourselves in the dark if we dont ALL step up and participate. We are settings out selves up and playing into the City's plans to keep us divided as always.

Also remember that Sgt.'s have their OWN Union, Union Reps, and agendas. They get ALOT, ALWAYS negotiate with the city first for their wants first, and once again, Road is stuck with the droppings from what's left. The Sgt's. are NOT with us; they wil get theirs before we even negotiate us getting ours. For those of you that don't remember, last negotiations the middle 20-30 Officers got nothing new from the contract, while the 15 year and up vets got automatic 6% raises, 20 year vetsand up got automatic 10% raises, and new hires got raises, while longevity was cut!

Lastly, No, RS, Dan, Jason, we will NOT give up our pre-negotiated COLA's for the city. The $130,00 wouldn't do squat for the 4 million deficit. We all can point to waste in the Dept., so voice it to your reps, JASON and DAN. WE negotiated to have this 3% COLA for this year and gave up other facets to get it from last negotiations. Place the burden on THEM to cut fat away from areas that have gone unnoticed and have meant little or nothing to impact this Dept. for the past years. We are in a union to be represented by people with integrity, not personal, political agendas for the good of THEM. WE pay our dues for the PBA to work for US. Last time it was threat of impasse. There are not going to be layoffs, so new guys don't worry. And impasse, go for it. Because then they have to open there books completely, while asking us for our little 3%. Put the burden back on them, where it belongs. Far too long we have bent, this time, we push back.
And image to the public! WE got Commisioners elected. Our crime rates are through he roof, and the city loves this Department for the most part. So bring it, because we have the stats to back it up and compared to other cities, we do a far better job. Again, the burden is on THEM. We supposedly have a PIO, so I say AA needs to step up and go on the offensive on this. Get to work AA, show us what wearing a Polo shirt with ABSOLUTLY no Police equipment has gotten us all these years. You may not understand this, but the needs of the many DO outweigh the need of T W O.

And Tom, we got friends in the papers, and they just might like a story or two about all the good, hard work we do. Tom to Mike: They might Mikey, they just might.

WOW. Long but kinda right. ASK questions of your reps. There are many thing happening that may not be passed on to us, for one reason or another. Think you might be on a chopping block, ask. Heard A.A. is in on sceening Chief candidate, ask, then still say WTF>Heard we are losing our Colas, ask. Wonder why this is happening in a non-contract year, ASK. THEY wanted to be Reps. They are good guys, so they won't mind talking to you, but you have to ask; because we obviously aren't being told anything.

07-17-2009, 09:17 PM
if we all feel the same way why are we not signing a no confidence letter about rs as a rep for us. he can keep his position at the county level that way he still feels important. take it to the union prez.

07-17-2009, 11:17 PM
He is not a CC rep now so just ignore him. If Pat wants to appoint him then fine but NO ONE tells who us who we want to represent us. If he is not elected by us then he should not be in our stuff. If you want the truth anyone can go ask the manager like some already have. DR has told those who will ask that RS has not been told to screen any candidates and he is doing that on his own. RS and his side kick AA are liars and frauds that want us to think they have power. They are slowly being revealed for who they really are. If you want to hear it from the source just ask the manager who will clear the record.

Wow, some goo posts here. We need to stick together and be one voice. We are not giving back our colas, period!!!!!!!!!! We are not taking our colas and splitting them, period!!!!!!!! We are are not taking a lump sum with our colas, period!!!!!!!!! We will walked and manned the polls. The elected commissioners need to support us or we will no longer support them. Two commission seats are up next, our support depends on their support. AA needs to go back and man a zone, this is a savings of 80,000 salary, plus benefits including car. Woe I just made up the difference. AH is a much better face to look at as a PIO anyway. We only need one PIO, and hell she does two jobs extremely well. The detail SGT. can be replaced with a secretary and the Capt can go, now they owe us money.

07-18-2009, 12:40 PM
Now, Now, don't take it too far... I don't think we agree with all about AH, but I don't want to make this thread about her so I will let it go.

07-18-2009, 04:47 PM
Well put threads all the way around. A lot of saving face on RS part this week, back peddling if you will. The bottom line is this, we are not giving those raises back. Our poor impoverished city can well afford it. 3% COLA equals to about 180,000. On a $3,000,000 deficit they can find the cash else where.
1. Lets hold off on another Butterfly Fest. $200,000 savings there.
2. Lets trim he fat in the front. I believe theres a higher up in charge of well.....NOTHING now. $180,000 easy there.
3. Hmmmm how about we lay off the $100,000+ fire chief in charge of three people that do a job that Margate is capable of doing
Don't buy this layoff garbage too. The city is in a progressive state of growth. Layoffs will ultimatly lead to longer responce times, and increased overtime. Can you say cutting off the nose to spite the face?

If we are going to talk layoffs, then if it must be done cut back on the CSA's. Sorry guys/girls you do a great job, and I like you all but this is the survival of the fittest. So instead of two aides going to a parking violation at the casino there will only be one. Quite frankly we might have to do a little more work but we d be saving brother officers from layoff. Maybe the traffic boys will have to do a little more too, but its all for the good of the cause.

Oh, and what about farming out the sterling award winning dispatch center? The crowd reactions overwhelming!!!!

Cut back the duplicate civilian employees all over the city, and at the PD. Again those left behind will have to pick up the slack, but again its all for the good of the cause.

Finally this is not a Creek ***** fest or sour grapes this is merely an oppurtunity for the officers bargining unit to stand shoulder to shoulder putting personal feelings aside to fight for the good of the cause and whats right for the members, and their families.

Lets keep the stupidity to a minimum on these threads and stick to the facts, and stay dilligent. Lets not show them that in a time of concern we break each other down, and act like children. Lets use this all to often useless site for some good.

Thank you for reading.

The previous post is well written, good job!!

Now, Now, don't take it too far... I don't think we agree with all about AH, but I don't want to make this thread about her so I will let it go.

You guys are so predictable. Realize that we inevitably write as we speak. Sat. morning shift and 1/2 the shift full of new guys who would not have any motive to write this. That leaves a handful (actually three people) that most likely wrote this and only one or two with a little resentment that would. Hmmm...detective work LOL, does not take a genius. It's all good though... "AH" does not expect everyone to like her...maybe its a little disappointment speaking...and that's understandable and excusable. Let's just hope that some day, you see beyond the "fraternity" you think you belong to and realize you're a hard working road toad like the vast majority here.
