Sen. Todd Lamb will announce race for Lt. Governor

State Sen. Todd Lamb has the backing of former U.S. Sen. Don Nickles in his quest for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor in 2010.

State Rep. John Wright, a conservative Republican from Broken Arrow, has also announced he is running.

“Todd Lamb has been an exemplary public servant who will be a great lieutenant governor,” said Nickles, who announced he would be a statewide chairman for the Todd Lamb for Lt. Governor Campaign.

“Not only did Todd work for the people of Oklahoma while on my staff, but he has repeatedly demonstrated the personal leadership qualities Oklahoma needs,” Nickles said.

Lamb, a former United States Secret Service agent, is the State Senate Majority Floor Leader. The Edmond Republican has been in the State Senate since 2004.

Lamb also served Oklahoma as part of Governor Frank Keating’s staff and is general counsel for an Edmond-based company that provides services for the oil, natural gas and telecommunications industries.

While Lamb has not yet officially announced for the office of lieutenant governor, he filed papers to comply with the spirit and intention of the Oklahoma State Ethics Commission regulations.
