I thought if we accepted the Chief's terms he placed into our contract, that there would be no Lay-Offs? WROOONG! I can't believe the nerve of this city manager , and his staff asking street cops and firefighters to take cuts in our pay to make up the difference for poor mismanagement of the city's budget. The question should be asked is the city manager taking a cut in his salary ? How does the city justify giving this guy a raise when he can't balance a budget ? How does the city justify hiring an assistant city manager at $94,000? This isn't a large city like Miami these city officials only have to manage finances to progress the quality of life for 67,000 residents. City Hall is getting larger , and larger, and spending is getting out of control, and yet they expect the cops , and firefighters who put their lives on the line everyday for the safety of the public to take pay cuts. Are the GOBS taking any pay cuts on their bloated salaries , IS THERE GOING TO BE A STOP MEASURE IN PLACE TO STOP THE UNNECESSARY EXPANSION OF GOB PROMOTIONS ? Oh Of Course Not! How about a stop to the wasteful spending on Accreditation , and Now Oh Yeah Cameras in the Patrol Cars? How many jobs could we save if the GOB'S put a stop on these Three Stooges created like ideas? There is a real lesson to be learned by all union members, you see the 80 hour work clause , and the reduction of street cops was not enough for city hall. This is why we should have voted No To The Contract, because when you give the city an inch, down the road they want to take a mile. Is it not inevitable that lay-offs , are real possibility as we approach the dog days of summer. I'm not ever embarrassed about wanting higher salaries, the fact is that we the street cops, put our lives on the line everyday, and there is no price higher enough for someone's life. The city can name streets after you , put monuments up with your name on them, but at the end of the day when your killed in the line of duty, our families lose husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons , daughters, and in return they get an American flag. No street cop should ever be embarrassed about wanting more money, when we have paper pushers at city hall and in our GOB offices making inflated salaries , receiving political accolades, and political contributions off of our hard work , and life threatening sacrifices. Has the city learned any lessons from the loss of life from one of our officer's , of course not ! Instead they want to entertain the idea of allowing 18 and up downtown, like the poor bike officers aren't already at a disadvantage. I have an idea for all these whining bar owners, why don't they put their money where their mouths are, and open nightclubs for 18 and up with no liquor licenses. The fact is the ordinance came in to effect because downtown streets turned into auditions for the U.F.C. during closing time, and most of the bar owning whiners were violating liquor consumption age requirement laws on a nightly basis. We need to organize , we have an election coming up this fall in the city and we need to campaign for representatives that represent a Pro-Police agenda on some of our off duty time! The American Criminal Liberties Union(ACLU) is starting to infiltrate our police department , Accreditation, cameras in patrol vehicles, affirmative action policies for promotions, No Search Incident to Arrest, GOB's taking all bogus citizen complaints, and Citizen Review Boards. We need to start pushing these politicians with liberal agendas that want to place restrictions on law enforcement , and our military back into the minority. We can't wait for our Union , GOB's, or politicians to do anything , they're sitting on their hands and stealing our money ! It starts this September ,and we have a lot on the line! Can we forget Crist sucking up for Stimulus money with Obama at the Harborside? We have a new fresh face for Republicans running against Crist. I will be campaigning on my off time for Marco Rubio for U.S, Senate in 2010! Is it not time to put Liberal minded Republicans, Democrat Congressman, and Senators back into the minority in the our Federal government! The agency was here before any of us worked here, and will be here when we are gone. One person does not make or break an agency. We can lose any employee and still do fine (except for Bryan Smith - then we would all be screwed). All of us should just be happy to have jobs. Do any of you know what it is to not have job security? Do any of you know what it is like to have your home foreclosed on? Sounds like the words of a newly promoted Supervisor; specifically one who would agree with us common folks previously, but now cant or wont associate with such. Come on now, are we supposed to be grateful for all the wrongdoings and injustices which occur on a daily basis. Got an idea to improve morale (so listen closely), how about giving everyone a ballot so they can actually be truthful about the things that suck here? How much does that cost? A funny thing happened the other day , for some reason I was given some recorded material relating to some tirade in someone's briefing relating to Stats, Essays,179's! I wasn't aware of the hatred for this person by their own squad. I applaud those officers who refused to comply with this unlawful order to write an essay to the Chief! The recording technology on those electronic devices we all carry are an amazing thing for the "Transparency Era" at F.M.P.D. All for a piece of taco lettuce on his shirt, that a Deputy believed was marijuana , but yet he never collected it , and never field tested it! How many hours of waisted police funds were spent between Captain I.A. , and Lt. One Trick Pony plotting methods to fire officer Young. So when "Operation Drug Test" failed , let's try another new idea we stole from another Law Enforcement Department it's called " Operation Pre-Disciplinary Hearing" . I'm wondering does anyone in the PBA board see a violation of "Due Process" here? How do you have a disciplinary hearing before the officer has even had a chance to have a trial in the COURT OF LAW? I think if my memory is serves me right, I believe there were two other officers arrested for D.U.I. and yet they were not fired ,or forced to resign! You know what still inspires me to post on this web-site is the unjust firings ,suspensions of many officers ,and support staff that have occurred under the last Poor excuse for a Chief Civilian Daniels ,and now under the New Administration who learned all their tricks from Daniels!
