Will the agency start you at a salary higher than the base? Wut is the hiring process? Is there a take home car? Any OT or off-duty work available? :cop:

yeah its the best, high pay, take homes and plenty of action.

Starting pay is $38,867. No take homes. FRS and free tuition after six months.

That is classic funny. FAU pays as poorly as the Florida Hospital Patrol.

Their roster reads like a venerable "Who's Who" of people who have been washed out of every other agency around. If you don't believe it, take a look at who works there.

First of all, who are you to come onto this board and insult anyone? What we have here at FAU are a fine group of law enforcement professionals. Now, the one or two individuals you might happen to know that didn't make it at other agencies is no indication of this department as a whole. In fact we have several individuals that have retired from places like Coral Springs, Hollwood and BSO to name a few. Secondly, if you're going to trot out a word to give a so-called description of the officers that are employed here I suggest you open a thesaurus or a dictionary because "venerable" isn't it. Since you didn't take the time to look it up I went ahead and did the work for you.

venerable
–adjective 1. commanding respect because of great age or impressive dignity; worthy of veneration or reverence, as because of high office or noble character: a venerable member of Congress.
2. a title for someone proclaimed by the Roman Catholic Church to have attained the first degree of sanctity or of an Anglican archdeacon.
3. (of places, buildings, etc.) hallowed by religious, historic, or other lofty associations: the venerable halls of the abbey.
4. impressive or interesting because of age, antique appearance, etc.: a venerable oak tree.
5. extremely old or obsolete; ancient: a venerable automobile.

You must be kidding. Look at who works there now. BSO rejects with brass on their collar and their short friend. Before this current cast of characters, there was Brogan's former FHP driver who was made chief despite having no qualifications. He promptly hired a buddy of his from FHP to a rank position even though the guy had more sexual harassment complaints against him. He kept it up once at FAU and the chief was forced to resign along with his reject of a commander. Two chiefs before that, you had the female who was doinking the male lieutenant. The male lieutenant then harassed a rookie female and that resulted both the chief and the lieutenant getting let go. It reads like a saga that should be a fiction novel but it is not.

so what's your point?

If you want to work with the least common denominator, feel free to apply.

No on the salary, No take homes unless you are Command Staff. Hiring process is the same as any other Police Department. Plenty of OT available, with recent Officer resignations, extended medical leave and off duty on campus Officer OT. However, you best sign up as soon as its posted, I hear. Other than that, its a University cop job. Reality is, a job is a job no matter where it is or what agency it is. Only difference is the benefits. Remember last to higher first to fire! To say the least, FAU has not let anyone go under the economic crunch and especially in their Police Department. With all the layoffs around, the University is getting flooded with applications when a vacant position comes up. Good luck if you are trying to get on with their PD, growth is there, be patient! :D
