Crist, entourage trip to Europe cost $430,000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Map, News) - Gov. Charlie Crist took a pricey 12-day trip to Europe this summer, hitting tax payers with a $430,000 bill amid a sagging economy.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Crist flew to London, Paris, St. Petersburg and Madrid to drum up business in July on a trip that was supposed to cost $255,000, but the tab came in much higher. Expenses included Crists' entourage of more than two dozen, including a photographer and nine bodyguards, who alone spent more than $148,000 on meals, hotels, transportation and incidentals. The news comes as the state has a roughly $2 billion deficit.

Crists' office says fostering overseas business is even more important when the economy is hurting and has been "instrumental in keeping our state from greater distress."

To help you forget about it, he just gave you 2 days admin leave (day after Xmas & day after New Years) to "spend more time with your families". Too bad you can't spend it viewing the Eiffel Tower or Buckingham Palace at taxpayer expense. There are the "haves" and the "have nots". If you have not figured it out, you are a "have not".

I suppose he was wearing mouse ears to drum up support for the tourism / theme prk industry & did he make his wannabe cop "bodyguards " wear them too? I guess the real & pertinent question is did any of the European folks actually know or give a rats ass who he is??? LOL

What is even funnier is "AG cops" calling FDLE Special Agents "Wannabe Cops". Now that is too funny!!!!!! Last time I checked, most of the FDLE agents spent years at a local PD or SO being real cops prior to coming to FDLE.
