Seriously, is anybody surprised with what is happening at Haines City pd ? How many officers have defected to the PCSO prior to this revelation ? It didnt take long for their newly arrested Capt to pull out the race card. but none the less, Justice is on the way. so to all my brothers and sisters at HCPD who have lived in fear for so long, the sun is rising on the horizon so WELCOME to the first day of your new lives. Maj Pruitt is a good man and he will show you what you have been missing for so long.

Unfortunately, many of the "Officers" who were able to get hired during West's reign, still remain gainfully employed at the Haines City Police Department. I'm talking about people who would have a hard time getting hired at Wal-mart, what with their background issues and overall ineptitude. Some of whom were actually promoted to positions of authority and higher responsibility such as Corporal, Sergeant, Detective, etc. Unfortunately, these people still remain and still carry a badge and a gun over at the Haines City Police Department. While I applaud the work of the State Attorney's Office, I believe that unless the entire house is fully cleaned, the Haines City Police Department will continue to be an embarassment to the citizens of Polk County. My brief tenure at the HCPD horrified me enough to last a lifetime. When the bad far outweigh the good, you know you have a serious problem on your hands.

The man tapped with conducting an internal review of the Haines City Police Department issued a five-page report to the state attorney’s office this week detailing a host of deficiencies at the agency.

Michael Pruitt, a major on loan from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, took the helm of the Haines City Police Department in late October. He was asked then to conduct an internal investigation of the department’s operations. In his report to State Attorney Jerry Hill, Pruitt spells out significant concerns.

Pruitt says there is an “overall lack of leadership within the agency.” He also cites “insufficient systems of accountability” as well as a “lack of internal office security.” Pruitt expresses concern that there have been keys issued to a number of department personnel over the years, but those keys have never been properly accounted for. Some of those keys provide access to sensitive locations such as property and evidence areas and supply sites as well as the armory.

Pruitt also raises red flags about some officers’ ability to write reports. “Many of the reports I have reviewed have had grammatical errors, punctuation errors, and spelling errors,” Pruitt writes in his report.

In an interview, Pruitt said the agency has to get back to basics in order to function properly. “You have a willingness for people here to do the job. That’s not the problem. They want to do the right thing. The problem is, I don’t think they’ve been given the equipment, the tools, the knowledge to do those.”

Pruitt says he is taking Polk County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures and adapting them, where possible, to fit the Haines City Police Department. He hopes to begin implementing some of those policies as soon as possible to get the troubled agency back on track.

THIS AGENCY IS A TURD IN A TOILET BOWL THAT NEEDS FLUSHING! ABOLISH IT

looks like the post was removed that pointed out the fact that the supervisor over the investigation was recently kicked out of college for plagerism. plagerism = dishonesty.
keep up the good work PCSO

The previous poster may want recheck plagerism. Perhaps there is a dishonesty element about it, but according to my thesaurus, its to infringe, pirate, imitate, simulate, forge, counterfeit... shall i go on?

Thank you for being here, hope our PD turns from blue to green. If the city doesn't send a proposal to Judd then I think we need new commissioners.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Detectives assigned to the Polk County Sheriff's Tactical Drug Unit made 89 arrests during a four-and-a-half day operation which began December 12th and ended December 16th and focused on illicit criminal and drug activity within the city limits of Haines City. The operation was a joint effort with the Haines City Police Department and was initiated at the department's request.

Some of the persons arrested had active warrants. Charges on the arrested subjects ranged from traffic infractions, such as Driving While License Suspended, and No Valid DL, to serious felony drug charges, such as Possession of Cannabis, Meth, or Cocaine, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Several of the subjects who were arrested had violent criminal backgrounds, including prior charges of First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Sexual Assault, Drug Trafficking, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnapping.

The overall response from the Haines City community during the initiative was very positive. Residents and bystanders came up to detectives and expressed their appreciation to the Sheriff's Office for their presence within the city and their assistance to the police department.

"This is a great example of a productive partnership between the Sheriff's Office, Police Department, and the citizens of Haines City. These kinds of partnerships are so important in our countywide efforts to fight crime," said Sheriff Grady Judd.

Has HCPD selected their new chief? I thought it was just posted.

06-08-2009, 03:28 AM
Can you say Chief Sloan?

06-08-2009, 01:57 PM
Can you say Chief Sloan?

Please do not tease us like that...

06-08-2009, 11:54 PM
Roy Tyler would be best for HCPD.

Now in other news, can Mulberry keep ANYONE in charge for longer than a week??

06-09-2009, 05:30 PM
I could be wrong, but wasnt Tyler terminated from the WH police academy when it did not keep it's preformance standards? This would have been quite a few years ago.

I read that Bartow finally picked a new chief.....I also heard that the remaining candidates found out by reading it as well, the city didn't tell them they hired someone! What a bunch of idiots....Oh well I also hear the merger is not a dead issue and will be addressed again.

06-14-2009, 12:53 PM
Do you really thin Bartow spent that much money for a Chief search, had a citizen board review board, etc and then will got to PCSO?
I mean are you that unaware of politics or just unwise in the way or management issues?
If the current to be Chief does not work out, then sure, possibly I'll grant that it'll come back up.
The PCSO tends to move when a place is without a Chief and guidance, I think we should be worried, not Bartow....
But then again, maybe PCSO moving in here would us in the lower ransks.

Are you High?????IT has nothing to do with anything but$$$$$ ! Do you really believe that he city of Bartow, or any city can do the job cheaper? Cities are cash poor, the council has two options, raise taxes or not, these sh itkickers want too stay on the council, the city manager wants to stay there it is cheaper and easier to contract with us vs. having to negotiate a contract with the locals. I will bet dollars to doughnuts, 6 months and Bartow will be a district!

06-15-2009, 02:00 PM
(YAWN), heard all that before.
and besides, it doesn't matter what you or i think. the city of bartow made the decision(for better or worse) that they COULD do the job cheaper.
AND i re watching it on TV and several people said the PCSO contract about the money saving part was not accurate.

....and easier to contract with "us" vs. having to negotiate a contract with the locals.

the above quotation are your words. by "us", does that mean you area deputy?

pcso is not hiring now (or giving wage increases either) and the county is laying off workers.

HOW SENIOR ARE YOU?

06-16-2009, 01:01 AM
Roy Tyler.. have you lost your mind ? He wasnt FIRED from the academy for not keeping up his standards, IF I rememeber correctly, he and others were fired and charged with a crime.....so now he sits on the haines city commission. good call NOT ! And lets recap. the Sheriff did NOT approach Bartow about merging, THEY approached him. I wish the new Bartow police chief luck, he is gonna need it.

06-17-2009, 01:42 PM
I agree w/you. Bartow DID approach PCSO. I think the only difference in that one compared to the other mergers is that the majority of the officers (at the time) was against the merger (or "BAILOUT")...

I hear now a lot of the BPD officers are regretting that....

I dont know what kind of bet dollars to doughnuts is, but I'll take the action that Bartow WONT be a district in 6 months!!

06-18-2009, 12:52 AM
I'LL TAKE THAT BET!

"Cities are cash poor"? Read a news paper, "PCSO hiring freeze and no raises"!

Don't sound like the cities are the only ones cash poor.

Six months from now drop the dounuts off in the roll call room, I like the ones with the sprinkles on them.

06-19-2009, 03:58 PM
You seem to think the PCSO came up on the short end by not merging with BPD... WRONG ANSWER.. we didnt approach the Bartow city leaders about stealing BPD away from them, THEY TRIED TO DUMP YOU ON US.. All im saying is, if you are happy paying your own retirement, having less than modern equipment, having alot less opportunities to advance or move into different areas in the law enforcement field, less training opportunities, then by all means continue to "Stay Blue".. Chief Hall, the PCSO welcomes you and is also looking foward to working with you, maybe you can light a fire there at BPD, they need it.

06-20-2009, 03:19 PM
please show where anyone made a statement that pcso came up on the short end of the stick? or where anyone on here threw any insults at pcso? please then unwad your string panties.
AND
we like paying for our own pension which is why we have a 20 and out (w/the option of going into drop at 20, not 25)....
lets not throw insults, their are plenty of shortcomings anyone could point out about pcso (or any L.E.A. for that matter)....but i wont, i have a lot of good friends at pcso and except for the ones like you i respect them all.

06-22-2009, 05:43 PM
So it begs the question, if your life is so good at BPD, you are you reading the PCSO blogs? exactly ! just continue to live in our shadows and wish you were us...
