This site is getting pretty popular right? I have heard a lot of talk about it. Why don't you use it to share some ideas about the FOPs negotiations with the City. I have some ideas on how to put the squeeze on the City Manager - FOP and Police public enemy #1! No raise, a freeze in steps, and taking back add pays since October firts!? WOW . . . who loves ya. You can not rely on the citizens. Look around everyone is hurting and the public sees you as the City Governments strong arm. Only the City is screwing you. You're on our own and need to do something as a membership. The FOP board is a good one and they are all cops cops, but they hold very public positions and still have to finish out a career like the rest of you. Use this anonymous forum to share some ideas. How about these
Coconut fest - makes the City look good right - refuse to work those details and have the City order people in for OT!
Shop with a Cop - the kids will still get their $$$ - but why make the City look good volunteering for this?
City Hall and Council Mettings - yeah right - make them order someone to cover for OT
These may be a little extreme and will obviously cut into your pocket book but having the City screw you and still working to make them look good for lousy detail pay is stupid!
You need to do more than wear bright colored t-shirts and sit in Council meetings or picket in front of City Hall.
Be leary of your Union board! They can all be screwed with and pressured into submission. Be leary of those claiming to be charter members who now work directly for the City Manager and have a 6 figure retirement coming in less than a year!
