Bummed about the AVL in you car? Here is your solution. The AVLs were installed under the dashboards of your cars. They are hard wired to your vehicles' continuous 12 volt system. The AVL works on an RF system that can be jammed by using an RF jammer at the frequency of 1450-1600mhz. Check this website for jammers: http://www.sesp.com/download/SESP_Catalog.pdf or http://www.tecknogeeks.com/shop/gps_jammers or http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info ... n-car-use/ (http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/tiny-anti-tracker-gps-blocker-in-car-use/)
If all else fails, unplug fuses until you find the one that the AVL works off of. More than likely it will be a 25, 30 or 40 amp fuse.

Dear Techno Stupid,

Have you looked ant the news lately and have you seen how far your paycheck does not go these days? Why in the world would you give someone the advice to jam or disengage the AVL in a City owned vehicle? Do you not think the City will fire some naive officer for doing that stupid advice you just gave? Why don’t we start to get serious on this site and start to worry about the things that really matter. Who cares about the AVL in the cars … really if the City wants to know where and when I go someplace that is okay they own my police car and they have the right to check. What we do not need is the City thinking the police are doing something bad or wrong because of some rumor that officers jam or shut off the AVL in police cars. If this was a perfect world I would bit*h slap you for writing such a stupid thing on a public forum. To anyone thinking about this … please do not do it … the minute they do not see your car when they look they will investigate and you will get busted. Let the City have the AVL it is just another measure that shows how hard we do work and something none of us that work hard on a daily basis should worry about.
