LPD neither wins or loses ANY court case. We investigate, determine probable cause, and if it exists, we make arrests. Lawyers fight and bicker at trial. A lot of juries nowadays seem to want to have the ability to watch the crime on TV right in front of them before they'll believe it happened and they sure as hell don't believe a police officer merely on his word. But then there is something to the argument about one's intelligence if they're not able to get out of jury duty in the first place.

The tone of the first post here, whether intentional or not, almost seems to imply that the detectives may have been at fault. I am not a detective, but, like most of us, I know many of them personally, and have a great amount of respect for all of them, especially under the workload they have. I could not do their job without getting frustrated and giving up. If that wasn't the intent of the post, then ignore this.

Some of your cops have given the public good reason not to merely take your word.

Don't let a very small percentage ruin your opinion of the entire department. The overwhelming majority of our Officers are good, honest, hardworking men and women who want to be treated fair and equal. The bad one's are usually weeded out in the early stages of their career. As for the latest incident involving two veteran police personnel (Lt & Sgt) they somehow made it half way into their career and are still employed. We have had our share of bad apples and they should be dealt with appropriately. However, it is obvious that this administration does not handle everyone and every situation in the same manner.

Am I wrong or is that shameless Lt. over the unit that investigates violent crime? Maybe that's the problem.

He is still there! He only received a 5 day suspension and a 30 day suspension from extra-duty details handed down from our COP.

And, the 30 day suspension from the overtime list was retroactive, so, in truth, there was really no suspension!!!
