View Full Version : Commissioners Meeting Monday

Does everyone know about Monday's county commissioner's meeting where they're going to vote to lower the millage rate. If they do then the SRSO will be $400,000 more dollars in the hole than they already are. Everyone might want to attend for our own good!

Does FOP plan on being there?

The Board members and Johns will be there, however it's only gonna make a difference if the MEMBERS show up in force. Hopefully, unlike the regular meeting the members will show up and act like they give a damn about what happens regarding their job.

Let me see, the contract ran out on Oct 1 and we still don't have one and haven't gone to impasse. What is the FOP going to do? Scare two CC's who have been voted out of office already? Oh, and the FOP didn't have the cojone's to endorse them, or anyone else for that matter. So, exactly what are we showing up for? It will be interesting to see Otis lay off people selectively, oh wait, we don't have a contract, he can do that. If the CC's want to give us one more in the chest, who you gonna cry to? Otis carried the vote by 2 to 1, you got what you voted for. See you in four years.

Apparently, you did not go to any of the FOP meetings regarding endorsements, nor did you vote on the endorsements.
The FOP did NOT endorse Stewart or Broxson (which is why this happened, because they were mad), but they did endorse people against them (Clayton Miller and Lane Lynchard). Lane won and will be a new Commissioner. Because Williamson was late to the game, endorsements were done prior to his entry. The FOP has voted now to endorse Williamson. Maybe if you were at meetings and knew what was going on, you would have had a somewhat intelligent post. Instead, you look foolish.
By the way, if we do not go to impasse, the current contract stands. Do you really want to go to impasse? What exactly do you want in a contract? Due to the fact that they have already gotten the SO to agree to detailing out the provisions that we did have prior to the change in Civil Service rules you should be somewhat happy. Waiting on the Sheriff's Labor Attorney can be a pain. It takes time when they are the one's holding the papers and deciding what they agree on. The FOP can only work as fast as the two pulling strings for the Sheriff's Office.

FYI, the FOP brought the media to the BOCC meeting and had them digging around within the BOCC prior to the meeting. They are doing something. Why don't you try asking instead of ASSUMING.
