Here is the latest and greatest numbers from the Sun Sentinel concerning the City's budget:
The city doesn't expect budget trims to affect services such as police and fire-rescue. But
incentives will lead to the voluntary retirement of about 34 employees.
Total general fund budget proposed 2008-09: $50.2 million
Total amended general fund budget 2007-08: $51 million
Percent change: About 1.6 percent decrease
Dollar change in property tax revenue: $332,949 decrease
Percent change in property tax revenue: 6.98 percent increase
Total tax rate proposed 2008-09: 5.0646
Tax rate 2007-08: 4.7340
Impact on homesteaded house valued at $275,000 (whose taxable value has increased
3 percent because of the Save Our Homes tax cap, but which now has a $50,000 homestead exemption): The homeowner would receive a bill of $1,181.32, down from $1,183.50, a savings of $2.18.
Impact on nonhomesteaded house valued at $275,000 (whose taxable value decreased by 6.98 percent): The owner will pay $1,295.55; a decrease of $6.30.
