Lake Wales Police Officer Arrested in Bust of Marijuana Distribution Operation, Sheriff's Office Says

Nineteen people, including a Lake Wales police officer, have been arrested in what sheriff’s officials said was the bust of a significant marijuana distribution organization.
Lake Wales Officer Keenan Colson, 50, of Bartow was arrested on multiple charges and subsequently fired by the Lake Wales Department, the Sheriff’s Office said.
An investigation began in December. Law enforcement agencies throughout Polk County, plus the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area taskforce were involved.
“Information developed by detectives pointed to two men who were believed to be involved in significant marijuana distribution and sales—25-year-old Clayton Hoerler of Lake Alfred and 27-year-old William “Big June” Cade of Haines City, the criminal boss of a tight-knit criminal group operating in East Polk County,” Sheriff Grady Judd said at a news conference Wednesday.
Using wire taps, detectives were able to listen in on conversations leading to arrests, search warrants and the seizure of about $60,000, 20 pounds of marijuana, 168 marijuana plants and guns, the Sheriff’s Office said.
