Hope Tallahassee command staff can look FDLE in the eye now that they have wastefully spent so much money on 2 cowboy hats w/ carriers, tilly hats, and badges and while state employees are losing their jobs.

Try telling FDLE employees who are about to lose their jobs your bs lame excuse that nextel lawsuit monies can only be used for cowboy hats....

Wear it with pride!

You fail to recognize the basic principles of fiscal management. Let's use the current housing situation as an example. Two people buy similar houses, which at the time of purchase they can afford. Over the years Owner 1 makes additions and improvements significantly increasing his monthly cost. He has lots of kids, buys lavish furniture, and takes expensive vacations. Owner 2 establishes a sound budget, lives within his means, and finds additional sources of income. When the bubble bursts, Owner 1 cries foul, blames others for his situation, looks to the government for a bailey, and goes into foreclosure. Owner 2 tightens his belt and weathers the storm. FDLE grew too fat for its own good while FWC stuck to its core mission. So FDLE is cutting warm bodies, services, and entire program areas while FWC is hiring.

So quite whining about money spent on hats and badges. First, it can't be spent on salaries...even if it could when dispersed throughout the Division it would be miniscule. Second, be thankful you have a stable job at a fiscally conservative agency living within its budget. Finally, trying to turn someone else's misfortune into your gain--even if it's just to argue a point--is despicable and deserving of the 9th level of Dante's hell.

Crawl back into the hole from whence you came and go away already

And you sir fail to recognise the tipping point many officers are in right now. There is a fine line between being fiscally conservative (a Bushism) and just not making ends meet because salaries have not kept pace with the cost of living. One can only tighten his belt so far. We'll all stop whining about hats when the agency spends excess dollars on things that actually benefit its officers. One option would have been to buy issued Nextels for field officers that need to use their personnal phones to continue to be productive in there jobs. That choice would have been like giving each officer a $1200+ year raise. I'll take miniscule over nothing anytime!

So, Mr. "wear it with pride". Do you think your making numerous negative posts all over the forum about our hat will create the illusion that your statements are coming from a majority of us? The hat was chosen by 80 percent of us. In politics they call that a mandate. Look, we realize that little your scrawny little butt probably doesn't look good in a cowboy hat. There's an easier way to remedy the situation than wasting your time with all the negative posts, cause were not changing just to make you happy. Here's a solution...why dont you go join a small town PD and get yourself one of those little meter maid hats, or maybe become a twooper. Bet you'd look good in a scwewdwiver hat.

80%? Sorry there Mr. Cartright. I find that hard to believe.
