View Full Version : Question about limits of PD versus FHP

I've been trying to get a better understanding of the different authorities of the local dept vs the FHP or the sheriff's dept. Obviously the PD has authority within the city and the deputies within the county. It seems that the FHP should be restricted in their duties is that not the case? I know some areas where the PD is allowed to do enforcement outside of the city limits though. I am just curious as to where the authority is.

Venice Police, as far as I understand, are also deputized sheriffs, and can, and presumably do act outside of city limits when necessary without restriction.

Thanks for the response however there is no ticket I'm worried about getting out of. It is genuine curiosity. Foreign concept for some people I understand. I find that not being jaded serves people well in life.
