Anyone know how long after the Polygraph that the background is started? Do they tell you their starting the background or do you find out from your employer when the start asking you questions about trying to leave... How long is the back ground usually? 1,2 or 3 months? Thanks.

Background starts soon after, It will take awhile to finish. DOT has a tough process. Next academy starts july 28,2008. After that I don't know, but I can tell you the school is Long, very Long. DOT academy is the longest of any State Law Enforcement Agency.

Thanks for the reply. I am already certified. I was told the CVSA portion is 12 weeks. Is that correct?

Well the inservice academy is twelve weeks. Two weeks is CVSA certification, 3 weeks will be weights and dimensional laws, the rest of the time will be agency policy, high liability stuff including firearms, cpr/first aid, driving, dt, asp, oc etc. It goes be pretty quick.

Also, from what I was told, the academy now includes radar/laser and HAZMAT.

CVSA is 2 weeks long, part a and part b. The academy now has hazmat and radar included, making it longer.

It seems like they are having an academy every quarter. Hmmm, people must be getting fed up and leaving the agency.
