Not sure if this is one of your Officers or not, but my condolences go out to your agency and the Officer's/Ranger's family.

MICANOPY -- A state park ranger is dead after a tree crashed through the roof of his car.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park south of Gainesville. The Florida Highway Patrol hasn't released the victim's name.

Authorities say the ranger's car was stopped because the road he was traveling on was block by a downed tree. As he sat in his car, a second tree fell atop it, causing the roof to collapse.

The highway patrol says the ranger died at the scene.

It wasnt one of our officers, but he does work for DEP (but for the park service, not the div. of LE) I knew the guy. Great young kid who wanted to get into LE. He was a park ranger, which is someone that tends to the park and its visitors and sometimes lives at the park or preserve. He happened to live at the preserve. Its a shame though. Wrong place at the wrong time.
