Thanks.. how many openings do you have. Also the web site shows starting pay around $40,000.00.. any OT, Off duty, take home cars, or other perks ? What about shift ? 8 10 or 12 hrs. Any info about the organization and working conditions would be helpful. From the start of application to hire usually how long? Not much about that on the web site. Has the Chief and staff been around awhile?
Thanks again.. for the helpful comments .

6 openings, looking to hire 18 in the next three years. No take home, now we are negotiating a new contract, hopefully we get mutual aid to work off duties. Work wise is great but starting pay is low. We are desent on overtime, the only time when is low is during summer. 8 hr shift, but we are fighting for 4/10 we are going to have a couple of sgt. retiring in the next 3-5 yrs. FRS.

61(open door) is the most used signal, you dont like opening doors and playing security dont apply.

Now, don't discourage him/her from applying.

We get hot calls on campus.

3-61 - Emergency door open. Professor forgot his keys. Kids standing outside. You can use lights and sirens.

3-41 - Medical Call - Bimbo broke a nail. Case number please.

3-15 AOA - Sweetwater or County is requesting emergency help. En route, negative 07 that. No need to back up officer down. Lt. Pink Shirt is the expert at that one.

When you have been out of the FRS system for a year apply, as this is a great retirement job.

Before you look deeper into hopping aboard with our "DELUXE", "FRIENDLY", and "STATE OF THE ART" Department. STOP AND THINK TWICE! If you like security work and taking it up the a#@ by everyone that works for FIU IE BK, RJ,MM, Ect....
"Don't worry security is here to open my door" <----you will hear that very often. Sorry I got off on the wrong foot.........

Let me tell you about FIUPD.
When and if you decide to come to FIU, remember this... Always look out for yourself..... DO NOT "TRUST" anyone here. People are only here to F*%k you....IE......LC <-----DONT trust him at all, DO,JS,BK,RJ,ED,AA,AT,FT,RT,GW, HB <-----this guy is scared of everyone and everything, FM,SS,NG....You get the point.
You will carry a large key ring that only seems to grow bigger day by day. I have more things to tell you but the decision is yours...join us AT YOUR OWN RISK....and read the fine print!
