Hey what happened to card access ??? Looks like since the computer link went down in the A/B Office all is forgotten. Isnít that one of the main reasons why these guys were hired in the first place ???

So much for the big I.A. we had to go through over it.

Be prepared for total chaos come June 1st. Hope that dispatch is not to busy answering A/b calls and parking compliants to hear our calls.

Giving AB card access was a quick way to get it out of the UP's hair. The IA was BS, especially the nuciance of the system as known by the Admin. Card Access still isn't being enforced, it took AB a week to realize how messed up the system is and they shut it off. What level of responsibility can you put on AB? Not much. Their officers can not be hung out to dry like UP officers can on SOP violations and professional standards, they just can't.

Complaints about AB not responding to card access is mute in my opinion. I don't want that crap back on the PD. We are now geared more towards, important stuff like DUI's and other arrest. Campus building security and safety stuff is now an AB thing.

Let some nut get into a building and go on a shooting spree, and its found out that the card access door was propped. How will USF like it when the media types find out that it was IGNORED FOR MONTHS BY THE SECURITY GUARDS THIS UNIVERSITY SPENDS 1.2 MILLION A YEAR TO MONITOR IT.

Campus Security doesnt seem to be this Chief's priority. DUI arrests and off campus stuff (North Zone, especially), which would raise the arrest stats ovrerall, seems to be the priority. There has been a Tactical Response Team made, but it is really a joke. It's, just more prestige stuff, and looks good on paper.

All officers that work during the day, yes even desk people that are sworn officers, should be trained to deal with a a quick response situation to an on campus shooter.

That's when an incident like that would most likely happen. And if it does happen, the surrounding agencies have specially trained units to deal with it. Thats all they do is train for a situation like that. A quick response availability by USF police with rifles (who all should be trained in the use of rifles) is what USF PD needs to be focused on.

but it is really a joke.

The only joke on this forum time and time again is the ignorance of the posters. Please get your information correct if you care to expel your verbal diarrhea. We are all so grand to sit back and armchair quarterback the actions of a small and underfunded agency (like most these days). It is absolutely amusing to see the half thought diatribes and meaningless counterpoints made time and time again. Everyone has an idea of how to fix things and where money should be spentÖ
