View Full Version : Why???
I am wondering why are the number of drug arrests so low any more? I remember when they used to be a lot higher. I know the drug dealers are still out there. What are the issues?
I really would like some serious answers. I think someone person out there can really can give me a good honest answer.

Why don't you call the Sheriff. I am sure he would be more than willing to talk to you and give you the answers. Then you can judge for yourself.
It seems like no one wants to answer my question. Let's look at the numbers.
2000 Jan-Jun 13 July-Dec 12 Total 25
2001 Jan-Jun 5 July- Dec 12 Total 17
2002 Jan-Jun 15 July-Dec 28 Total 43
2003 Jan-Jun 0 July-Dec 6 Total 6
2004 Jan-Jun 1 July-Dec 2 Total 3
2005 Jan-Jun 0 July-Dec 1 Total 1
2006 Jan-Jun 2 July-Dec 1 Total 3
2007 Jan-Jun 1 July-Dec 86 Total 87
Our Sheriffs Department went from making 43 Drug arrests in 2002, only 6, the next year, 3 the next, and then finally a year where only 1 drug arrest was made in the entire year. Finally in 2006 it went back up to 3 arrests for the whole year.
I have a hard time figuring out what happened in the years 2003-2006. 4 years of nearly no drug arrests. But what I find even more puzzling is 2007. TCSO made 1 drug arrest in the first six months of the year. Then in the last 6 months of the year they made 86 drug arrests.
I am happy that they made 86 drug arrests in this 6 month period and I hope this trend continues. I am curious as to what caused this trend to start. I know the drugs didn't just start coming into Taylor County in the last half of 2007. The drugs and the drug dealers have been here a long long time.
I wish I had stats for earlier years, but I was able to get these numbers from FDLE's Web Site From UCR Reposts named, "Annual County and Municipal Arrest Data" and "Semi-Annual County and Municipal Arrest Data." Here is a link if you would like to look at the reports your self. They have the years 2007-2000 available.

Good Job to PPD, TCSO and FDLE on the recent arrests. Please keep it up and the pressure on.
