TAMPA The former second-in-command of the Tampa office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, who said in December he planned to retire, was investigated last year after complaints that he inappropriately used his position.
It was alleged in October that Moses Jordan worked to affect actions of other law enforcement officers concerning traffic stop encounters, an FDLE internal investigation report states.
In December 2004, Jordan approached Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe at a crime scene and spoke angrily and disrespectfully to McCabe, witnesses said, according to the report.
On another occasion, Jordan was rude and acted unprofessionally when Hillsborough deputies pulled him over for speeding, the report states.
Jordan had been assistant special agent in charge of the FDLE Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center since February 1998. Before that, he was chief of the Florida Crime Information Center, which is responsible for storing criminal history, FDLE spokeswoman Kristen Perezluha said last year.
Lance Newman, former special agent heading the Tampa office, resigned in October.
Pensacola's former Special Agent in Charge, Jim Madden, was picked to succeed Newman.
