The battle to keep positions continues.

Why can't FDLE come up with a funding source to pay for a cola? I will have 5 years deputies making more $$$ than me this year and they have unlimited overtime. I have been a PBA supporter, but it seems the only pay increase I may get is to quit paying my monthly dues. There is no pressure on the legislatures and the PBA needs to start actively lobbying against all incumbants and they need to be voted out!

Yep.......I was a hero when I left the SO for FDLE as I had a better salary. Now the boys at the SO are laughing at me as their salary has surpassed mine!!! :(

Not only that but all we can hire now are internal analyst.....no more cops it seems!!

Is there a way to make a contract mean something with the State? What good is having a contract when every year the legislature has to approve it? This does not make sense, things need to change and all legislatures must be voted out who are refusing to give us a raise.

The FHP stands to get raises of $ 5,000 - $ 10,000 many of them if their bill passes. If the StateLEO/Corrections bill passes that fund only takes in about 500,000 a year which comes out to like $ 50 an officer a year. What the heck is the PBA talking about that trust fund couldnt even give a 1% raise to senior people with only 500k coming in.

OK - I am really confused, at least more than normal.

With all of this talk of the budget woes and layoffs, can anyone explain why FDLE would choose this time to pull out of the money laundering task force? I confirmed it with one of the agents assigned there that we are out of that task force as of June 30th. This is a task force that provided $600,000 to FDLE's FIST fund last year alone. This money can be used for a lot of things and is not included in the budget - how many more positions will this decision cause us to lose?

How can we go to the legislature next year or the year after and ask for more money after walking away from that kind of money. Oh yea, FDLE also takes on the expense of the agents pulled form there - cars, GAS, tolls, etc...

Can anyone (Al or another PBA type) help me make sense of this decision?

I HEARD THE SAME RUMORS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT EITHER, IF THE POSITIONS GENERATE FIST MONEY.

WE HAVE HEARD OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS RECURRING CONCERNS WITH TASKFORCE PARTICIPATION, ON A REGION BY REGION BASIS.

COMMAND STAFF DOES NOT SOLICIT OUR INPUT IN THESE MATTERS.

Staff concerns over legalities of some of the seizures, accounting. Real or perceived? As usual, the troops are the last to know the reasons for these decisions that affect operations.
