Yes, we hire both certified and non-certified. Laterals still have to go through the hiring process. Benefits? You should be listing what you have to offer this agency! Authorized strength is 50 sworn. You get a take home after completing FTO or orientation, we have the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and there is overtime available. We also have tons of off-duty opportunities.

We also top out at $65,000 in 8 years, then get a longevity of 3 to 5 percent starting the year after you top out and you get that in a lump sum check every year. Also the dept. reviews our step raises every two years and will keep us in the top 75 percentile of the highest paid departments in Dade County. I think starting pay is now at about $ 45,000 correct me if I'm wrong.

NONE Why? Because we don't need one! The Mayor, city commissioners and manager are extremely supportive of their police department and have provided us with all the tools necessary to get the job done. The commission has always approved an agenda item involving the police department, which includes our current salary structure and benefits. If you ask me, our commission is TOPS and they are the example of how other city commisions should support their police departments. BTW: We are represented by the PBA's legal defense plan.

Son be smart and don't come to this place. Go apply somewhere else like Miami Dade, Gables, Doral, Miami, Miami Gardens, etc. We don't need union because our city officials took a crap when they heard UNION. OOOOOOOOOHHH shoo they are going to find out the real stuff GET IT.

What do you guys use?
10-codes, or Q-codes?

Q-codes

And a lot of plain talk on the radio too. Not just all codes all the time. It's a little more relaxed on Dade County's radio system here.
