I wasn't sure if the quote attributed to Rudy Crew about Gerald Darling was actually his, or if it was Manny Diaz's quote about Timoney! Birds of a feather...

ABOUT TIME THE CHIEF IS CLUELESS

Those stats that crew talked about is crap. Unlike other departments, MDSPD have what are called "School Board Violations". We have loopholes around Florida Statutes. Remember the command staff of this department gets paid based on how they have "cut" crimes and reduced arrests. The Southwood incident should never be forgotten, the reports and arrests need to made for what they really are, not how the castrated administration of MDSPD say it should be.

I nominate the individuals that file the EEO against the chief, wait a minute these are the same individuals that go hunting and defend the chief at the FOP meeting. CONFUSED NOT. SLAKERS THEY ARE, LAZY THEY ARE

WHAT CAME OF THE VOTE?

04-26-2008, 01:04 PM
An overwhelming number of Miami-Dade Schools police officers voted to say they have no confidence in Chief Gerald Darling, the department's union announced Friday.

Eighty-two percent of the 160 officers voted against Darling, said Howard Giraldo, president of the Fraternal Order of Police. Thirty-one eligible officers did not vote.

''The message is we need a chief that is going to represent us . . . who is going to stand by his officers and fight for salaries and stand up for the officers when they're being criticized for doing their job,'' Giraldo said.

Darling has been under scrutiny by the union, which calls him ``an absentee leader.''

CREW HOLDS FIRM

Miami-Dade Superintendent Rudy Crew wasn't swayed by the union's no confidence vote. He issued a statement Friday afternoon:

``Today's vote in no way diminishes my confidence and trust in Chief Darling. He has led Miami-Dade Schools Police with honor, dignity and wisdom, to the benefit of our students. He deserves the greatest respect from everyone in this school district.''

Darling's job security rests with Crew. The chief was hired in 2004 after 23 years with Miami police.

HIGH SCHOOL RIOT

The move to hold the vote -- conducted Monday through Thursday -- was approved after a melee involving officers and students at Edison High last month. The incident drew national media attention.

Many officers were indignant that Darling asked officers to stand down in the cafeteria as students hurled books, fire extinguishers and chairs at them. Some officers suffered broken fingers and dislocated shoulders.

Darling, for his part, has defended his actions, saying that more officers streaming into the cafeteria would have needlessly antagonized students. The district itself has characterized its own police response as ``over-reactive.''

The union also has blasted Darling over stalled contract negotiations. Union leaders say low pay is forcing cops to take jobs elsewhere.

Giraldo said 11 officers have applied to Miami-Dade police; 20 others to the new Doral police department.

''We've got to stop this mass exodus,'' Giraldo said. ``They are not being compensated.''

UPDATE

SAME SHI_, DIFFERENT DAY, ONLY NOW AFTER F---ING THE DEPARTMENT, HE IS GOING TO BE MAKING CHANGES THAT IN NO WAY IMPROVE THE DEPARTMENT. HE ACTUALLY WANT'S TO TAKE CREDIT FOR IMPROVED CRIME STATS. (GOT TO MAKE SOMETHING UP TO GET A RAISE/BONUS)

IT SEEMS THE CHIEF IS MORE INTERESTED IN NOT ANTAGONIZING THE STUDENTS OF EDISON, BUT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANTAGONIZING HIS OFFICERS WITH HIS LOAD OF HORSE SH_T

REMEMBER FOLKS, SIX YEARS TO BE VESTED IN A PENSION. ISN'T THIS THE ONLY REASON FORMER MIAMI COPS COME HERE?

wishful thinking, former so called Miami Officers go to MDPD becuase they could not cut it in a real police department, give me a break, dont try to justify your in that shitty pd

Yeah, I guess your right. I guess in the Miami P.D. you can hang around for 20 some years not doing anything and then you go to M.D.S.P.D. That makes sense  It also makes sense Miami P.D. is monitoring M.D.S.P.D. message board because so much is going on in theirs that they can't help themselves.

We want to be here on your message board while your dept is still around, they may be deleting this board soon !

So what else is the union going to do to get rid of Chief Darling? Are they in bed together now? inquiring minds want to know.
