The School Board can not have it both ways...It claims not to have money for the officers who perform a thankless duty of watching over our kids....then on the other hand the School Board just purchased nearly 15 acres of land on Marginal Road, west of the turnpike at a cost of $4.5million, when the land is worth less than half that price. The School Board is planning to spend $40 million dollars building this new school that is not needed in the neighborhood. The SB is planning to buss 960 children from other 5 schools. The new school will have an operating budget of $1.0 million a year. It is no wonder that the School Board has no money for the school police's raise of 5%.
Just this week the School Board approved a budget of nearly $200K to continue to fund the planning of the new school. The neighborhood is against the school and began a campain against the school. For more information about the neighborhood campain against the School Board, please visit our website at www.stoptheschool.org (http://www.stoptheschool.org)
The School Board is reluctant to build the school at other sites, even when it already has 28 acres in its "Land Bank" near Lake Worth Rd and US-441.
How come the School Board can waste $4.5million dollars in land deals, negatively impact an entire neighborhood, can budget another $40million dollars +$1.0million dollars a year???? We, the tax payers need to hold them accountable and vote them out during the election time.
How come these entities are not accountable for their actions?
How come they can waste our tax dollars, but then deny a decent raise to the people who safeguard our children?
It is obvious that the School Board does not get it...nor they will get our vote at elections time.

Palm Beach County schools racked up $18,650 in fines for violating water restrictions and environmental regulations since 2005 — but students are going to benefit from it.

The South Florida Water Management District recently agreed to forgive the fine payments as long as the School Board spends double the amount, $37,300, on environmental science classroom programs and a 6-foot globe.
