Because of the 96' riots, and like Tampa appointing Holder in lite of the riots in St. Pete, the USF ST Pete appointed a black Chief. He had connections to the Tampa area and was hired, despite this, he has pretty much proved to be a screwball. The Uhurus still dominate the St. Pete Area. The St. Pete Police and USF St. Pete will still follow this mold. What a joke.

Consolidate & unite once again....

I think Tampa campus should take over St. Pete campus. Get rid of the St. Pete chief and install a Capt. to over see the campus.

Tampa USF PD leaders can't handle their own little world as it is. It is a joke to think USF PD (Tampa) should expand to St. Pete or even patrol on the North side of campus. Go figure, Benson had to be hired to do the work of Chief Longo. LOL

Several years ago, Tampa used to command the St.Pete campus. It would save thousands and be better run. I think this is the only university that has seperate depts. Crazy!

Yes, to answer your question, Dr. Benson should have control over the satellite campuses eventually also, that is the plan.

They actually tried that back in 77', but the City got tired of responding to fire alarms, opening locks, and man down by the docks, they gave it back. Now there is student housing. Smell of marijuana smoke on floor 1 one of housing, beer pong being played on 2nd level of housing, fight in the 3rd floor of housing residence. Why live in campus housing? Campus police will be there and it is safe.

No, campus security act of 1990 provides for all of this.

There would be more funding oppurtunities/grants for both since there is a sea port, military base and airport that borders the campus.

Good idea, the USF St.Pete marine patrol unit could finally get started.
