As a police officer with another agency I will respectfully suggest several recommendations that need to happen immediately in-order to bring changes:

1. Stay united and stop trashing each other and or your department in public forums. If you are going to address an issue be strategic and organized were its sends a loud and very specific message with unity and purpose.

2. Organize through the Union several strategies:

a. Demonstrations

b. Press releases & mailings to citizens

c. Have the Union investigate and reveal all the alledged corruption by politicians to the appropiate agencies and the public.

d. Identify if a vote of no confidence is appropriate

e. Formulate campaign that reaches out to the residents and will create understanding, sympathy, and unity. I will tell you right now that you have not reached out to your residents "as one". The residents are clueless of what is happening for the most part.

Remember we are all "one" lawenforcement family. Lets support each other during these times were our brothers are being "killed" and politicians want us to believe that we can be replaced with another body. Yes, the financial outlook is rocky right now in South Florida but the waste of hard earned tax payer money continues. The lies of the cut backs is a perception campaign created to distract residents into thinking the right thing is being down. Take a look at the Performaning Arts Center, Airport, and many other projects that are costing a fortune. Conduct a public survey among your residents and you will see that public safety and education are the most importing issues they want government to preserve. "Yes" tax payers are fed up with how the taxing system in Florida has taken advantage of them and now residents are speaking out. How did the politicians respond to the outcry of the citizens by threatening to negatively impact what? Schools and Emergency services (police and fire). Lets stop hurting each other by bashing each other, by thinking one is better than the other, and by maintaining jurisdictional pride. Lets unite the unions (PBA, FOP, etc..) and fight a united front like the politicians. Today its the Gables and then it could be Miami, County, Beach, etc.. Best of luck and by the way I am also a supporting resident of your City.

Blessings to all

from your brothers at MPD

Thanks MPD but Coral Gables citizens are too busy counting the $$$ in their bank accounts to actually care or sympathize with us.
