Question for MOD 456

I am non-certified, 21 year old applicant. I have no driving tickets or infractions on my record, no prior arrests, good credit rating, and will be receiving an associates degree by mid-year. My only flaw as an applicant is that I experimented with drugs. A two time MJ use in 04 and one time use of cocaine also in 04. Whats are my chances with your department? In June of 08 would make it four years for the use.

Continue using drugs cause they only hire FL certified officers.

Thats not true. I'm currently in the hiring process for the department and I'm Non-certified. Had the swimming test last Thursday and waiting for the Psych coming up

You are either lying or the tribe has gotten really desperate about officers and are now hiring non-certs. They are super cheap and only hire certified cops.

Currently we are accepting apps for both certified and non-certified, I really do not know if the experimentation would be held against you for, all apps are considered and taken on a case by case basis. Best I can tell you is apply.

Every agency that you have completed an appl. will ask you "where else have you applied?" its not a good idea having too list various agencies and why you werent hired. If your just starting out the best place for you, would be the county. Smaller agencies are good for guys that are ending their careers and would like a smaller agency. However, smaller agencies in Florida are notorious for black balling and small town politics. In other words stay away from small dept's. The county is professionalized and accredited which means they cant just terminate you for petty B.S. they have to follow procedure. Something smaller dept's dont always do. Besides, dont you want a take home?

Countydude- Is that you Velez? If it is, whats up buddy! Hey, you know I agree with you on that one. Nothing like working with the county. It will be a long while before I change, and if I decide to got to a PD, they got to pay. Period!

As I read the thoughts you put into print I can reflect on how I was years ago, just like that. Now I see that no matter what the case or department size or what the tasks we had to do it all came into focas when I departed it. The bottom line is to support your brothers and sisters in uniform. To go back on the road again for me is critical as it has been my life for 34 years. please rmember that sometimes we can't live with it, but some can't live without it. 8) The administration is whatever you deem them to be and will regin no matter how upset you get and they will be however they are. When your out of the system you will fight or operate a checkpoint to get back in it's tough out here.
