View Full Version : A POLICE OFFICER'S CHRISTMAS

12-24-2007, 09:12 AM
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the streets,
not a person was stirring, 'cept an officer on the beat.
As he quietly patrolled the town with great care,
children and parents slept peacefully there.

The officer was clad in his blues and his vest,
gun on his hip, always looking his best.
He'd just pulled aside for a quick bite to eat,
When all of a sudden, out on the street,

A bright light appeared from out of nowhere,
He shielded his eyes from the brilliant glare.
'Twas an angel of the Lord at the squad's rear,
He smiled and spoke, "Dear Officer, don't fear."

"I've been sent by God with a message for you
who faithfully serve while wearing the blue.
He wants you to know He loves you all,
He's pleased with the way you've answered His call.

"To protect and serve others, so selfless you've been,
Your bravery and kindness have known no end.
Even in tragedy, when nights became long,
You've helped countless strangers by being strong.

"God sees your heart, the joy and the pain,
He knows the profession can often bring strain.
So he sent me here to let you know,
That as you patrol, He goes where you go.

"As you protect others, your Father protects you,
His angels go with you, His Spirit does, too.
No bullet too fast, no bad guy too strong,
I'm sent to make sure that your life will be long.

"So fear not the night, and fear not the day,
fear not the threats that might come your way.
I'm sent to accompany you on your beat,
There's not one moment you're alone on the street."

The officer sat stunned by the love of His God,
He bowed his head, with a tear gave a nod.
As the officer said thank you, the angel took flight,
"God's got your back, carry on, and goodnight."

Twas the night before Christmas
and throughout the substation,
Not a deputy stirred,
they were all on vacation.

The stockings were hung
on the wall with great care,
Next to some T-shirts
and old underwear.

I was working the night shift
compiling stats,
Answering the phone,
and feeding the rat.

When all of a sudden
there arose such a clatter,
I leapt from my desk
to see what was the matter!

I opened the door
with a creak and a crick,
And saw a jolly red fat man
I knew must be St. Nick.

I had seen his picture
a time or two,
He was wanted:
Article 27 - Section 342.

I threw open the door
and commanded him "Freeze!"
"Put your hands on you head
and get down on your knees."

But he turned and he ran,
up the chimney he flew,
With me in pursuit,
toward Booth St. I knew.

When we got to the roof
Santa made for his sleigh,
Throwing down toys
and blocking my way.

As I got to the peak,
he threw down some crack,
I slipped and I fell
landing flat on my back.

To my front I was faced
with a toy M-1 tank,
And Pink Power Rangers
covering my flank.

"On Dasher, on Dancer!",
he cried loud and clear.
Then I got off three rounds
and dropped the lead deer.

And I heard Santa say
as he sailed into the blue,
"Merry Christmas to all!
My Lawyers will sue!"

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the streets,
not a person was stirring, even the officer on the beat.
As he quietly slept in the parking garage with great care,
children and parents were left unprotected unaware.

The officer was clad in his blues and his vest,
gun on his hip, overweight and a mess.
He'd just pulled aside for a third time to eat,
When all of a sudden, out on the street,

A bright light appeared from out of nowhere,
He shielded his bad eyes from the brilliant glare.
'Twas an old man and his wife at the squad's rear,
He smiled and spoke, "Dear Officer, be of great fear."

"I've been sent by from the Third Floor with a message for you
who unfaithfully serve while wearing the blue.
They want you to know that They love you all,
But They really wish you’d start taking some calls.

"To protect and serve others, so selfless you should have been,
Your bravery and kindness will be laughed at in the end.
Even in tragedy, when nights became long,
You've insulted countless strangers thinking you were strong.

"God sees your heart, the anger and the pain,
He knows the The Third Floor can often bring strain.
So he sent me here to let you know,
That if you won’t patrol, then just pack it up and go.

"Though you don’t protect others, your Father protects you,
His angels go with you, and you’re lucky, too.
No bullet will get you, no bad guy’s will harass,
Why you are a’sleeping on your porky ass.

"So sleep through the night, and sleep through the day,
fear not the threats that might come your way.
I'm sent to harass you on your beat,
There's not one moment you're alone on the street (we’re watching)."

The officer sat stunned by the Third Floor Gods,
He bowed his head, with a tear gave a nod.
As the officer said thank you, the old fart took flight,
"We’ve got a camera, get to work, and goodnight."

This is an excellent and inspiring poem. Thanks to the author.

This a LEO Site. Your opinions will probably be welcomed on the failed sanitation workers site. Next time you get into trouble, call a Timber Cutter.

To CittyCumissonur....... way to take a nice sentiment such as Christmas wishes and turn it into something negative and uninspiring. I'll pray for you.

To my LPD co-workers....... Please stay safe and Merry Christmas!

Crime fighting has taken its toll. Since the first recorded police death in 1792, there have been more than 17,900 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Currently, there are 17,912 names engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

O.K.....Lets cut crap, Junior....

In all of the occupations you listed above, 99.9% of the fatalities are by ACCIDENTAL circumstances, the MAJORITY of which are later determined to have been PREVENTABLE, after exhaustive investigations by law enforcement, in-house rick management, OSHA, FAA, NTSB, and insurance companies. These workers die from incidents such as falls, vehicle accidents, pilot error, improper training, lack of or improper use of safety equipment, and disregard for safety rules & procedures. These deaths are no less tragic, but usually attributed to error on the part of the decedent.

Now, law enforcement....a significant number of the annual deaths to law enforcement officers happen under HOMICIDAL circumstances....News Flash Junior....alot of folks out there DONT WANT TO GO TO JAIL!....They fight, punch, kick, stab, shoot and run over us in cars to.....NOT GO TO JAIL!...So, when your about get your little whinny butt kicked, and you call 911, unlike say a...tree cutter, we come.....Generally speaking, it is NOT the policy of most cops NOT to go get the bad guys because they may hurt us...I dont know, maybe its a character flaw or something, but we generally head right on into dangerous situations....Its just what we do...

O.K...I'm sure you'll offer up some idiot come back about how many cops die in vehicle crashes....so, we'll cut some of that crap too, shall we?....

You, Joe Lunchbucket(head)...drive down the road, dilligently paying attention to the road in front of you, your own driving, and other drivers around you..la,la,la..on your merry way...COPS, on the other hand, drive down the road, dilligently paying attention to the road in front of the them, they're own driving, other drivers around them, AND...aha, theres more.....the police radio, calls/info popping up on the computer, the people to the left, people to the right...hey, we gott see what they up to, right?.....See, heres how it works..You, the citizen, pay us & expect us to catch the BADGUYS, not just respond AFTER they have done they're dastardly deeds, but hopefully as they're doing it, or even better, BEFORE they do it!..I would bet a whole months pay that YOU, yes YOU, would be the FIRST to call and raise hell about a COP driving by and NOT SEEING some type of criminal/suspicious activity! You would probably be the FIRST to post on here also that said COP was lazy, scared, or just didnt care!

In case you missed it, this site is called LEOAFFAIRS.COM...LEO is not a lion, it stands for LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER...so dont expect a warm and fuzzy reception for your anti-cop B.S.....This is OUR party, we can cry if we want to...None of the posts on here were whinning about how dangerous our jobs are..its a poem, deal with it....WE do face some degree of DANGER everytime we go to work, we deal with it, and accept it, so you can too! Besides, a mentioned previously, this is LEO AFFAIRS, so we can say what we want...go to I HATE COPS AFFAIRS.COM....We can say what we want in sites like this. All you need to worry about is, even though you probably dont deserve it, the next time you call, one of us will show up, do our job, and treat you with courtesy, respect, professionalism, and dignity, unlike you do to us .....

I would ask for one favor though...the next time your loitering at the -11 or circle k, waiting for the customers to leave so you can buy the new Hustler cause your lonely....and that Officer/Deputy/Trooper is leaving after buying coffee and donuts, and the appreciative clerk says "be careful out there"...PLease, please, please, pull that little cutesy list out tell them to "cut the crap", and spout your statistics....ok?....you got enough balls left to do that?... or you ....have a Happy New Yer...PUNK!

So, take your cutesy little stat sheet, ball it up real tight, and stick it squarely up your (_!_)

I have never seen a tree that was armed and dangerous... and most on that list that are injured or die must have an Industrial Accident Report done and guess who does that... Thats right, the LEO does the report.

Well said PCSO Green
