Miami newspaper printed an article about firing of the chief and allowed other readers to comment on it. Some feedback from other people is just scary.
Long story short, the community has a huge drug/alcohol problem and the cops cannot do anything about it, otherwise they will get fired.

In my comment I am only interested in writing about the Miccosukee Tribe. I've worked for the Police Department for long time and I can really tell you that it is the worst place to work for. There are all type of crimes commited daily and nothing is done to stop this. The officers that used to be proactive don't care about arresting criminals anymore because they can get terminated for that, if you need back up you wil not get it because if Billie Cypress sees you assisting another officer he will terminate you on the spot, 98% of the indians are alcoholics and drug addicts, their police commisioner thinks that he is a police officer and drives around in a white expedition with police lights ( if you see him stop him an arrest him for inpersonating a police officer ), I think that we should all try to do something about this and get with FDLE or FBIA so that they can come in here and bag everyone. The Chairman, Billie Cypress, is a drunk and drug addict that enjoys ruining peoples lives by terminating them for no reason. I wonder if the Federal Government, State Attorney, Miami Dade PD, or any law enforcement agency realizes or is aware of how much narcotics come and go from the indian reservation and through SW 8 street and nothing is done. I also want to advise the Miami Dade Police Department that they should park there unmarked vehicle on SW 8 street facing West Bound and wait for these indians I personally know that a goog % of them have multiple felony warrants ( The County used to do this I wish that they would start doing it again ) as for myself I will be going to a real police department soon so I promise you all that I will be on the hunt. I guess if I continue writing here about these worthless people ( TRIBE ) It would take me all day so in conclusion I only want to tell the officers that the only way to change this place is by leaving and I want to advise the officers from every other department that if you stop an indian or have to deal with one check him/her really good because there is a good chance that they are either going to have warrants or narcotics on them. TO ALL MY REAL OFFICERS STAY SAFE.

MICCOSUKEE; Everytime I hear that name it brings a dry stomach pain to me. I also worked for that police department for 4 years and saw the discusting ways that the chairman would run that tribe. Between the domestic violence and the cocaine addictions that he would hide from the public. In my opion the B.I.A and the the federal government need to investigate that department, for all the corruption and and horrible things that i saw.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DRIVE WEST ON 8 STREET TOWARDS NAPLE, FORT MYERS OR ELSE WHERE BE VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH AN INDIAN NOT ONLY ARE YOU GOING TO SUFFER INJURIES BUT U WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THAT PERSON BECAUSE THEY WILL BE PROTECTED. APPROX. 1 1/2 YEARS AGO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE TRIBE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE HE WAS EXTREMELY DRUNK. HE WAS NOT PUNISH FOR THIS AND THE VICTIMS WERE NOT ABLE TO SEEK LEGAL ACTION. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. THERE ARE ALSO MULTIPLE INDIANS FROM OTHER TRIBES FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES TAHT ARE WANTED BY THE FEDERAL GOV.THAT SEEK REFUGE IN THE MICCOSUKEE RESERVATION BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT SINCE NOTHINGS HAPPENS THERE THEY WOULD BE SAFE FROM BEING CAUGHT BY THE PO PO. I ALSO KNOW THAT WHEN THERE IS SOME TYPE OF INCIDENT THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE INDIANS THEY CALL OFF FHP OR METRO SO THAT THEY CAN KEEP VERYTHING IN HOUSE.

Just because the White man took there land hundreds of years ago, they get away with Murder. The Romans were persecuted, look what they did to the Jews and African Americans. You don't see anybody named Buffalo or Tigertail or Cypress on the arrest log at Dade County Jail. They need to be held accountable just like the rest of the world. It?s the only place in the state of Florida you can drive in excess of 100MPH and get a verbal warning if you are a tribe member. They should be glad the LAPD is not policing them, they would be extinct

Hey I used to work for Miccosukee and I can tell you the whole place is a sham! They have a tribal court in which the judges have no formal legal training, If you find yourself in their jurisdiction you could be facing a Kanguroo court of 2 dumb as a door knob tribal judges that rule without basis of fact or law.
I saw people get terminated just for not showing humility to tribal members. The chief is a good guy that would stick up for officers and risk termination by Cypress whom has a terrible drinking problem which is representative of his entire community.
The department has the worst turnover rate of any agency in the county.
FDLE and FBIA need to look into it however they employ Dexter Lehtinen and Ileana Ros Lehtinen to make sure things go away at the federal level.
This department should not be a consideration for any serious law enforcement professional.

AS a former officer of the agency I can say that the Chairman of the tribe terminates employees for no valid reasons.The Chairman Billy Cypress is a drunk who has an 8th grade education and makes horrible business decisions.The tribe has serious drug and alcohol problems.This is the only police department that you can be terminated for making proper decisions within the laws of the State of Florida.The Chairman (Cypress) fired the chiefs secretary for not ansering her phone when she was using the ladies room.He fire Lieutenant Pelosi after 12 years of exemplary service due to he did not want to endanger his dive team for a late night dive when there was no visibility in alligator infested waters.Cypress fire a new police officer when he stopped a vehicle with no tag on it and the senior officer of the shift simply stopped at the location to make sure the new officer was performing his duties correctly.Cypress called the chief after driving by and seing 2 officers together after the chief explain why they were on the stop together and that it was standard operating procedure and said to fire them both.Cypress allows no back up officers and directly places officers in harms way and violates all training procedures and requirements of all police academies.Cypress also terminated a new officer for simply making a U-Turn to go after a speeder and the officer had an accident.This was his first accident or violation which on all other departments would have been no more than a letter of reprimand for a preventable auto accident.Cypress continues to verbaly abuse, break the law himself by operating his car while DUI and causing serious accidents, without being held accountable for his actions.Department has no general orders other than memo's.The tribe can do what ever they want without any worry of prosecution.Cypress recently took away officers overtime, off duty employemnt, no take vehicles ever, no retirement and officer have to put up with serious verbal abuse from tribe members.This has got to be the worst community in the world to serve.Dave Ward tried to run the police department as a leader that supported his officers when they were honest and correct.He was terminated for no reason.Miccosukee has a lot of good, professional police officer and they don't deserve to be treated like this.FDLE and the Federal Government should shut the agency down and force them to use the federal system and have BIA Police.Billy Cypress is no different that having Tony Soprano run your organization.
