View Full Version : Dark Times at MPD

08-26-2007, 12:49 AM
It seems like we are entering one of the darker times in the history of MPD. I do believe it's going to get worse before it gets better. I just hope the end result is the strong leadership that this department needs. Someone who will be fair, and take a moment to consider the men and women of MPD. Say what you want about Warshaw, but I remember he always had a handshake and kind word. When was the last time Timoney shook your hand and made you feel like a valuable member of the MPD family. Instead the current administration looks down upon you, and they encourage other staff to do the same. Does anyone remember when O'Brien came to roll call and thanked all the officers for keeping the streets safe during the Elian debacle? How he told the media the buck stops with him? Maybe the problem is that Timoney is not one of us. He was brought in from the outside, and has treated MPD like his own little kingdom and let Frank run the show so he can fly off to Philly and be with his girlfriend, fly to Iraq to play expert, and appear on CNN. Now he embarasses us by driving a free luxury car, and asking those around him to lie to the media about it. Now we have to make history by taking a vote of no confidence. It should have never come to this, but it has.

On Sept. 4th when I vote, it will not only be a vote of no confidence it will be a vote to say I want to be proud of MPD again. Of course I understand that this vote is just an expression of how we feel, and unless the politicians act on it nothing will change. However I think it sends a very clear message, and the two people being voted on should hang their heads in shame that we are forced to do this. I want to be able to come to work and be happy about it. I have 5 years to go, and I sure don't want those last years to be miserable. I want to be confident of my leadership, and proud of my leadership. I sure can't say that now.

Dark times may be ahead for a little while, but I remain hopeful that we will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel.

the sad part is, the every dept is going through the same. MDPD had a major arrested for DV. One PO there was caught taking 100K on an arrest. Two were busted for ripping off dopers in the what is now Miami Gardens. Lost count how many have been busted for kiddie porn. The sad is everywhere brownie, it's everywhere.

Do you really get it right on the A-forms? I have seen some fu... up A-forms. It's simple. people learn to write and spell in the fourth grade, that shouldn't be a problem for an officer to write a semi-ok report.
