I guess its like everything else...either you like someone or you don't. I personally like her and she has always done right by me and many others. I suggest you let people make their own opinion of her based on how she helps/treats them. Stop stirring the pot. No go away people, theres nothing to see here.

My wife and I have been to her...............totally fcuking brain dead.EAP needs an overhaul!God help you if you piss them off,disagree with what they say,or get on their bad side!They will not help you and do everything to make your life as difficult has possible.Judy holds her little,*****y grudges and takes it personal if you disagree with her words of wisdom!TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL!She also complains to the higher ups if you say anything to piss her off..UNETHICAL!

First of all, you made a big mistake on seeking out her advice in the first place. I experienced the same pain that you are. You might as well put the colonel on speaker phone when you talk to her.

Judy is a PIECE of ARTWORK. She does not honor Client-Therapist confidentiality rule. She's a RAT and a Backstabber under Ken Jenne. Anything you tell her, she will run back to her bosses with a kinfe on your back. She's useless and has no business to be law enforcement work, not even trash-cleaning detail.

Judy can go to hell!She was of no help when my family was in dire need of some counseling!When we went to see her my wife and I had a funny feeling that she did not like me.Her attitude and body language suggested that she was hostile towards me.Needless to say we stopped seeing her and got help from a REAL professional!After some time had passed I made some discreet inquiries has to why she would behave the way she did towards me and my wife!Judy is stupid.She thinks that she can do whatever she wants and make life difficult for people she doesnt like.Well I found what her problem with me was.A couple of years ago one of my Deputies came to me with a problem.This Deputy told me that she needed to speak with someone from EAP asap!This Deputy was having problems with her husband and kid and needed to talk to someone.I called Judy for her to set up an appointment with my Deputy and do you know what Judy said to me?Judy stated that she had had a problem with my Deputy years before.It seems that my Deputy had made fun of her when she was giving on of her classes.I told Judy that it should not matter what my Deputy did and she needed to see her.My Deputy saw Judy once and did not go back.She stated Judy and her helper treated her like sh-t.My Deputy got help elsewhere.I found out I was on Judy's list because I had the audacity to stick up for on of my Deputies!I know a lot of people in BSO.All of them think Judy is garbage!If you piss Judy off she will complain to your chain of command,she also likes to tell the other therapists that work for BSO lies about you and turns them against you!Judy is the lowest form of trash there is!She betrays the trust we have given her due to her petty grugdes!

Can anyone tell me why Judy is still here?There have been a lot of complaints about her over the years yet she is here!Everyone that I have worked with that has had any dealings with her say she is garbage!She cannot be trusted!Judy needs to be replaced!

I get the feeling she really dislikes cops, and that is a bad thing for cops that need EAP. We need a change in this dept quickly

Make an appointment to talk to Dr. LaPointe. He's very easy to talk to and used to be a LEO. It is free to PBA members.

Not to mention the treatment that you get when you walk into employee benefits with an issue. Your treated like dirt.

If you need counseling, see someone outside the agency to assure your privacy. No matter who is in EAP, you run the risk of your privacy being compromised. That is just the way that it is!

Before he passed away I brought the matter about judy bowels up to Lambert when he was our union rep.Lambert told me that he had a lot of complaints about judy and was working on our judy problem.Unfortunatly Lambert passed away before he could do anything about her.I cant belive the sheriff keeps her around!

My comment refers to no individual directly. Just be aware that no matter WHO may be in the EAP office in any organization, should you need counseling your safe play is to seek professional help from outside the organization to assure your complete privacy. Again, it makes NO DIFFERENCE who is in EAP. You run the risk of your privacy being compromised when you see an in-house specialist. Your personal information can become a bargaining chip in the wrong hands. Lets face it, politics will always be politics. People become involved in politics to secure or advance their personal position in an organization, usually at the expense of others. This takes place in most organizations, both big and small. The larger the organization, the more prevelant the political games. I'm just saying, don't let the person that is taken advantage of be you. You are, of course, free to do as you please. Just be sure to look before you leap.

I think we had to have that for CALEA, I can still see it now, Hello Deputy ( fill in your name) what do you want to be and how are we going to get Deputy ( fill in your name )to get there? I told her I wanted to be one of the " boys" and get promoted without having to take any test, just like the others. That was my only session.

I too remember Heddy(not Heidi) Weiss and my career path turned into a dead end too...no golf game here....

But back to Judy Couwels, I had no problems with her and used EAP services a couple times over the years. I appreciate her matter of fact approach and don't want some whiney woman or girly man asking me how did that make you feel, kicking back and bouncing their dainty little foot over their crossed legs. Give it to me straight and go away.

That bears repeating. Even if you've managed to avoid being dragged in to the politics for years, it's never too late to find yourself right in the middle of them. Someone wise told me that "knowledge is power and the more they know about you, the more power they have over you."
