Do not come to work here! No $$$, no time off, understaffed and overworked! And on top of that it's metro Atlanta, enough said!

How long have you worked for DeKalb PD? I work in the metro area as well, they decided it was time to give us a raise. They raised the starting pay to a set amount, and gave everyone else a raise based on percentage. The way it worked out, Officers that been on a couple of years are going to be making starting pay. Is there any good places to police in the metro area that you know of?

Sandy Springs PD.... PAY IS PRETTY GOOD, EQUIPMENT IS GOOD THE ONLY BAD THING IS THAT THEY ARE ON 8HR SHIFTS BUT LOOKS LIKE THEY MIGHT BE GOING TO 10HR SHIFTS 4ON-3OFF ROTATION...
GOOD LUCK....

Gwinnett County Pd is the best metro agency hands down as far as pay, benfits, work environmnet and morale...

Gwinnett isnt bad but go work for ANY city police force in North Fulton like Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Milton, or Johns Creek and you will make $$$$$. 7 years with Alpharetta and they are guaranteeing 72k if you pass the master officer exam. Try making that much at Gwinnett PD.
All of these agencies, especially Sandy Springs are very proactive.

Gwinnett was a great place to live and work at one time. Now the county has gone down the tubes with crime, and the county is in pretty bad financial shape, not hiring anyone, not buying anything. They are closing libraries, not building fire stations they had planned to, cutting back on teachers, over time, etc.
Theres better in metro Atlanta.

Also check Doraville and Dunwoody Police Departments. Both are very pro-active with good equipment and pay. Doraville will start you at $42,000 with 5 years experience.

I have heard the same about both Doraville and Dunwoody PD's. Problem is its hard to land a job with either of them. Hardly any turn over...
