Starting pay is a about $38,500 a year.

shift hr/days? 12 hours - 7 out of 14 days

take home vehicle? Yes

laptops in cars? Yes (FCIC/NCIC, DL info and photos, etc)

make model of cars? mostly Impalas

uniforms - tie - colors? Not sure what you are asking - SS gray shirts and green pants. Long sleeve and tie for class A.

We do have some unmarked vehicles, including at least one Durango and a couple of Chargers (but they don't routinely work the Interstate).

If you are interested, you might want to move quickly, the state forced tax cuts on the counties and cities and there won't be much hiring over the next year or so.

thank you very much, one more question.

when it states this on the site:
You MUST currently hold a Florida law enforcement or corrections certification to obtain an employment application for a law enforcement or detention deputy.

does this mean i have to go through the academy BEFORE applying? or is there an option where i can i apply and they sponsor me? i know some agencies are like that, just curious.

thanks again.

They want people NOW. There is a sponsored corrections academy going on, but we are so short handed, they need people that can work right now!!!

Based on the timing of your questions, I am guessing you don't live in Florida. Our state is kind of in a recession right now and between fuel and insurance, our legislatures mandated state tax cuts. Our counties operate mainly from property taxes. Since the state mandated tax cuts, there are hiring freezes going on all over and Tampa just laid off people in non-essential/non-public safety positions. I honestly don't think you will find any agencies in Florida who will hire you and pay your way through an academy at this point. Maybe in a couple years they will.

believe florida has a cross over for certified officer from other states, i think it is 8 or 10 weeks and you have to pay for it, unknown how much, but when you get out you are florida certified and can go any where except here.
